Meet Shanteria “Poetizer” Griglen of Poetizer Productions in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanteria “Poetizer” Griglen.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The manifestation of Poetizer Productions came from a broken place unexpectedly. I believe I was handpicked by God. Why? I don’t know, but He trusts me with this gift. As a child, I was always creative and during my teenage years, I began to write about things I couldn’t really say out loud. I think it’s safe to say that my childhood groomed me, but it wasn’t until I found myself unemployed in 2009 that I decided this writing thing might have to be more than just a hobby. I prayed and asked God to help me pursue my purpose and that’s when I stepped out on faith and incorporated Poetizer Productions.

My faith and daughter are what have and continue to sustain me to be authentic, creative and inspirational.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Ha! Not at all! My biggest obstacle was not knowing who I was as a person and interrupting my process with distractions. These insecurities made me stagnant and fearful, always comparing myself to others. This hindered my confidence and made me doubt my ability to be great – the way God intended.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Poetizer Productions – what should we know?
Poetizer Productions is a Miami-based production company. Dedicated to authentic, creative and inspirational productions in theater, monologues, film and poetry, our aim is to reflect the diverse complexities of the human spirit.

Shanteria, widely known as the “Little Giant”, we’ve worked endlessly to build a brand that is veritable and influences its audience to live a life beyond their wounds.

Poetizer Productions creates projects that tap into the core of ones’ conscience. One of those being “My Soul is Bleeding” stage production which has had two encore shows and gearing up for a book release September 2018.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I believe being authentic, continually growing into a better version of myself and my faith are the key factors for my success.
