Meet Sammy Dolgon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sammy Dolgon.

Sammy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up I was always very neat and organized. Whether it was my middle school locker or my bedroom there was order. In college, my dorm room and apartments became another place to showcase my love for organized living. I also found myself helping my mom pack for family vacations or when sending my brother off to sleep away camp. I just always enjoyed creating a space for my belongings.

When I began teaching, I used my classroom as another place to show off my organizational skills. Every bin, folder and shelf had a purpose. My students, who were only five years old, were always able to locate what they needed.

As a mother to a toddler, I find that the easiest way to remain in control and balanced is with a home that is organized and functional. That way not only are my husband and I able to find whatever we need the moment we need it, but guests or babysitters are as well. Helping to make at least one part of raising a toddler easier.

When I launched Space by Sammy I intended to help others by using accessible, traditional and innovative organizational practices to maximize space in homes of all sizes. I find joy in creating spaces that help people live their best lives.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
So far I have found it to be a smooth transition back into the workplace. I have been able to secure a few clients who needed help packing up their homes and organizing their items for storage. I am hopeful that business continues to roll in and that I will be able to reach more families in need.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business is called Space by Sammy and it is an organizational company. I help people minimize, organize and de-clutter their homes. I also can get houses ready for moving by packing up its contents. Another part of my business is packing for sleep away camps or long vacations. I make sure that when I am working with a client, I listen to their needs first. It can be very difficult to get rid of or donate personal items and so I work with my clients and never push them to make a decision they are not ready to make.

What were you like growing up?
As I stated before I was always very organized and neat. I liked control. I enjoyed getting together with my friends and having fun. I was also very outgoing and loved goofing around and being silly with family and friends.
