Meet Roberta Gomes of Hair Concept by Roberta Gomes in Coconut Creek

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roberta Gomes.

Roberta, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My journey in the beauty industry began at an early age, I became a hair stylist in Brazil where I fell in love with hair and everything to do with it. As a hair stylist, I loved being able to transform a client’s hair, bring a smile to their face and make them truly happy with the results. Then 10 years ago, we moved to the USA where I decided to open RG Cosmetics, a company that would manufacture and sell their own hair products. RG brought something to the American market that they didn’t have, we used American technology with the Brazilian ingredients and hair knowledge. The products were and still are a success, we have clients and distributors in the entire United States, all over Latin America and the Middle East.

Having a business is fun and I love selling, but I missed having a salon. I missed being in that environment where anything is possible. I felt like God was calling me for another project, something a little more different and special that could truly change people’s lives. And in March of 2016, Hair Concept by Roberta Gomes opened its doors, promising an unmatched experience.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think being a business owner and establishing a business is never a smooth road. We’ve had many tough days, especially in the beginning, those were the hardest. But, you just have to keep pushing through. You have to focus on your goal and why you are doing this, remember where you want to get at and visualize it when the problems come. I am a huge believer that if God gave me this project and passion, there is a purpose; so I know He won’t let me down.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Hair Concept by Roberta Gomes story. Tell us more about the business.
Hair Concept by Roberta Gomes specializes in custom hair-care. We personalize everything for you. When the client comes in they go through a hair and scalp analysis which helps us understand the exact needs of their hair and create their customized treatment from that. We also custom-make the shampoos, conditioners and home care products for them to continue the treatment at home. We believe the best, most gorgeous hair is healthy hair.

I am proud of our results, we have real results, we have clients come to us with scalp diseases, hair loss problems, frustrated that nothing ever works for them and we are able to change that. It’s the best when you see the client happy and sometimes even emotional about the results.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe too much in luck, I believe more in the “you reap what you sow”philosophy. Sometimes, we go through bad times and we might not understand why when we are living it, but it always makes sense in the future.
