Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Smith.
Rachel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Coming from a traditional and fairly conservative island family, there were several things that were just not talked about openly or freely. In high school, when the hormones started to kick in, sex quickly became a hot topic of discussion as we all started to become more aware of our bodies and our attractions to others. It seemed as though sex was happening all around me, yet there was so much about sexuality that was so illusive and unclear.
I had so many questions, but the only people I had to talk to were teens just like me. So, I took this curiosity with me to college, where I became a psychology major. During that time, I was presented with an opportunity to volunteer at a center for sexually abused children. This is when I first witnessed the immense need for silenced populations to have a voice and a safe outlet of expression to begin the process of healing. I learned how speaking one’s truth can lead to strength, resilience and empowerment, and I fervently watched how families were able to piece their lives back together after a state of brokenness and despair.
I found my purpose. I knew I was meant to be an agent of positive change in this crazy and unpredictable world – to help reconcile, empower and enrich the lives of others. So, I pursued and obtained a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, where I continued to learn about the many delicate nuances of relationships. It was my first internship, which served the LGBTQ community, where I continued to engage in necessary discussions about sex, sexuality, sexual orientation, and sexual trauma that others deemed taboo and tended to shy away from.
Convinced that these conversations are absolutely essential to personal and societal growth, I completed a state certification in Sex Therapy, where I learned even more about sexual health, sexual identity, sexual “dysfunctions,” and all that these entail. My consistent curiosity and exploration of sexuality and relationships give me a unique perspective and different approach to intimacy, and it is this expertise that I share with clients in my private practice.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road to entrepreneurship has absolutely been a bumpy one – filled with significant ups and downs. In a world filled with overwhelming messages and images of how we are “supposed” to be or how we “should” live our lives, going against the status quo can be quite challenging to say the least. What has been the biggest obstacle? Managing my mind – overcoming the overwhelm of carving my own path; standing strong in my vision, mission and purpose, despite how “crazy” my dreams sound to others; working through anxieties of the unknown; constantly reminding myself that I am strong enough, smart enough, skilled enough, determined enough (and countless other “enough” statements) to wholeheartedly make my dreams a reality.
Mindset is everything, and it often requires consistent work – meditations, affirmations, faith/prayer – to stay in positive and uplifting spirits despite the challenges. You see, our perception often creates our reality. What we believe is often what comes to be. So, managing my thoughts and pushing my own limits on what I believe is possible (and what I am capable of) is of top priority in my life and my business. Shifting and expanding how I think and respond to various circumstances, especially the difficult ones, can be a very uncomfortable process; however, as I tell my clients – there is growth in discomfort.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Infinite Intimacy story. Tell us more about your work.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am a firm believer that “luck” occurs when preparation meets opportunity. The universe is vast, expansive and filled with infinite possibilities. Not only have a prepared myself in education and skillset, I have also prepared my heart and mind to be open to the opportunities and possibilities that present themselves.
As a woman of faith, I also believe that God (or an ultimate higher power) has a plan and a path that leads to an abundant life, filled with peace, love and joy, and I am the one responsible for following the intended path. Once I set an intention, I take aligned action, and I say “yes” to any opportunity that is in line with my vision and purpose. I am incredibly grateful for all of the blessings I have received on this journey, and I have faith there is much more to come.
