Meet Priscila Goldenberg of Personal Shopper for Babies

Today we’d like to introduce you to Priscila Goldenberg.

Priscila, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started working as a Personal Shopper for Baby essentials in the USA in 2009, being the pioneer in this segment. I visited several baby stores to find out what’s new and buy items for my first child, who was three months old at the time. During my visits to the stores, I noticed many moms and dads from Brazil totally lost, not knowing what to buy. They always had a list in their hands, but when they found such variety, they couldn’t decide what brand to chose, how many they need, etc. since most of the products and brands do not exist in the Brazilian market. I offered help twice and realized the opportunity to professionalize and create the consultancy. I developed a website and created the service on social pages. Few months later, I started to provide the service. Today my company serves in Miami, Orlando, New York, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles Lisbon and Paris.

My service is fully personalized for each customer. Today I have a team of 20 Personal Shoppers that serve more than 100 customers per month, always with a personalized touch and considering their needs, lifestyle and individual budget. I was able to develop a partnership with some of the largest retail stores and also local retailers to provide exclusive discounts to my customers, so is cheaper for them to have my service than buy by themselves.

On 2014 I published the first book about this sector, “Enxoval de bebê nos Estados Unidos” with the aim of giving readers from Brazil tips and advice to make excellent purchases in the United States, correctly without falling into traps.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Is never a smooth road kkk. People see the success you have but don’t have idea of everything we have done to get there. Since my company is focused on tourists that travel to USA or Europe, the FX rate plays a key role in the volume of customers. Every time there is a spike on the FX rate, the number of customers reduces for a short period of time. Dealing with this volatility is something that we struggle from time to time like we are having during this month of March.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Personal Shopper for Babies – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My company is specialized in assessing the customer needs based on their profile, needs, lifestyle and budget to define the best products, stroller, car seat, clothes their baby will need for the first year. Is very important to personalize this service since most of the products are not available in their country so they don’t have a chance to go back to the store to buy something missing or an accessory that is important for them.

Around 30 days before they travel, we do a virtual meeting with every customer to build their profile and customize the items they need. Once they are in the US, we meet with them and go tighter to the stores to purchase the items. Most stores provide especial discounts to my customers that make them save even more. The process takes two days. After that, the customer is with everything ready and have time to enjoy the rest of their trip (baby moon) before they return home to have the baby. My company is known as the first to launch this service and for the personalization of our service. We have helped over five thousand customers, and this experience is something no one else has.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our future plan is to continue expanding to offer our service in more cities and countries. This year I already launch our services in Lisbon, Portugal. Soon more cities in the USA, but I can’t share that yet 😉
