Meet Penelope Robin in MIMO District

Today we’d like to introduce you to Penelope Robin.

Penelope, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I began acting at age 5 and since then I have developed a true passion for everything arts related. I spend most of my time rehearsing my songs & dances and getting ideas for my vlogs- it’s what I love to do!

Recently I went to Colombia where I had the honor of sharing the stage with acclaimed Colombian singer Karol G, as well as Puerto Rican singers Yandel, and Cosculluela during the CEG Festival 2017. It was so exciting to share my songs with an entirely new market.

All my singles are upbeat and easy to dance to, but my favorite is that the lyrics are appropriate for all ages so everyone can have fun! My producer C-Rod has been working with me since I started so it’s really fun to come into the studio and play him ideas I came up with and finish developing them with him.

My visit to Colombia inspired me to collaborate with a Colombian artist, Shaira, and write a bilingual song titled “Sigo Soñando” which has now hit over 4 million views on YouTube!

My most recent single, “You’re Mine”, was just released with its music video on August 31st. This was one of my favorite videos because I got to transport into another world… I guess you’ll just have to see the video to see what I’m talking about!

Has it been a smooth road?
I think the biggest challenge as an independent artist is to get my music out there for the world to hear! I use social media to market my music and videos as much as possible, but I wish there were more outlets. Luckily I have a great team behind me that is always hustling on my behalf!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My name is Penelope Robin (also known as @thepennyrobin) and I am an 11 year old singer-songwriter based out of Miami, FL. I write my own lyrics, choreograph my dances, and love to be absolutely authentic! My team always helps me in every way they can, but they have always been supportive of keeping my artist image true to who I am!
I think one of my trademarks is my love for glitter!! I would say glitter, dancing, and singing are a few of my favorite things 🙂

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel like Miami is an amazing city and I absolutely love it. It can be a little challenging for musicians since there aren’t that many live music venues where people go and actually listen, but I think that’s slowly changing and I’m happy to be on board as one of the artists that is proud to be from the 305!
