Before getting into events, I owned a makeup agency called, Blast Makeup®. While participating in the fashion industry, I had the opportunity to work with some great people and brands. I also had the pleasure to be part of great events such as: The Mercedez Bens Fashion Week NYC, Style Week Fashion Show Boston, Saks Fifth Avenue Fashion Show, reality TV show Jerseylicious, Walmart Soundcheck with Bon Jovi, actress Julia Stiles, singer Yandel, rapper and actor Method Man, chef Aaron Sanchez from the TV show Chopped, Walmart, Smirnoff, Lucky Magazine, Bella Magazine, New Beauty Magazine – among others.
The fashion industry is sure an exciting industry and as a makeup artist, you get to be “behind the scenes” of all these cool events including weddings. Weddings allowed me to work with a wide range of beautiful brides, grooms, and their families while being a part of their special day. However, as a makeup artist you usually do your job and leave, and you don’t really get to be part of the actual event.
This eventually manifested into the possibility of becoming an event planner back then and so I started digging a little deeper into my personality and I realized that I had always been the person putting together events among my friends and family; from themed “mustache and wig” parties to product launching events.
It wasn’t until my wedding that I realized that weddings are the events I definitely wanted to focus on. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming and if you don’t have the proper help, such as the guidance of a wedding planner, you might regret it and unfortunately, you will realize this once it’s too late.
When I got married, everything didn’t quite run as smoothly as planned and that experience really opened my eyes. I came to a realization that I didn’t want any other bride to experience what I did. Between this and my past in events and weddings, I was pushed to create a business focused on helping couples with one of the biggest days of their lives which I feel is very rewarding!
That’s how Verano Events was born! I love guiding and helping engaged couples by being by their side throughout the whole process so their planning and most importantly their wedding day is a one of a kind experience full of positive memories. I like to joke around and say that “I’m my client’s Google”.
Has it been a smooth road?
I totally believe that no business can be successful without obstacles getting in the way. These obstacles and difficulties make you actually see what your weaknesses are and make you work on them so you can finally succeed and give it your all. I would say one of my struggles is being new to the area.
I moved from CT/NY less than two years ago and even though I always went back and forth before I decided to stay here for good, it’s always a little difficult when you are setting down in a new area. This, however, hasn’t stopped me and has actually motivated me to meet new people which I love!
