Meet Nicole Valenzuela of Nikki’s Beachhouse Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Valenzuela.

Hi Nicole, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my business when I was 19 years old, still attending college at MDC and trying to figure out a way that I can continue with my classes and also work doing something that I love. Partnered with my mom, she and I came up with the concept of Nikki’s Beachhouse – a one-stop shop for women’s swimwear, clothing and accessories in a friendly, inviting atmosphere.

Fourteen years later, I have an online store and two physical stores that are recognized as fashion landmarks in South Florida. We are among the longest-standing small businesses in both areas, and I am extremely proud of that. My business has become my life in an amazingly awesome way. I have learned so much by being in full control of my own company, and I wake up every morning excited for what the future holds.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road – we were both new to the retail world and made a lot of mistakes along the way. But the biggest struggle for us was in 2008 – we opened our doors right before the recession. I am a strong believer in “everything happens for a reason”- having my small business overcome the hardships of the 2008 recession was and will always be a huge accomplishment in my life. I see this as the main reason why I became so successful- an experience like that really humbled me and showed me that with persistence and hard work, anyone could accomplish their goals and make their dreams a reality. It was tough and I can definitely say we came out stronger than ever.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Nikki’s Beachhouse Boutique is a one-stop shop for women’s designer swimwear, clothing and accessories. We cater to a wide age group and always curate our collections with our customers in mind. Traveling the world to attend trade shows has allowed us to find exclusive pieces with beautiful craftsmanship. Looking for a different, quality product to fill our stores is very important to us- we want our customers to stand out from the crowd and feel amazing in their NBH purchases. Besides our hand-picked collections, what really sets us apart from other boutiques is our customer service. Our sales team is warm, inviting and very knowledgeable about the latest trends. Shopping small allows for a more personable one-on-one shopping experience, which nowadays seems hard to find.
