Meet Nicole Pritchett of Drinkhouse Fire & Ice in Miami Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Pritchett.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It’s quite a funny story, and the more you know about my story, the more it seems apparent that there is some type of “energy” guiding us along! I was visiting my parents from London and they had invited an old friend over, Sally, someone I hadn’t seen since I was in my teens. Sally was talking about a documentary she had seen that changed her life. It just so happens that I had produced the documentary she was talking about and she had absolutely no idea. We bonded over the film and realized we had a lot of the same values, which I’ve come to learn is imperative for a healthy partnership! She wanted to open an ice bar in Miami and asked if I’d partner with her, and basically that’s the start!

If you want to check out the documentary it’s called I AM ( and is on iTunes and Netflix!

How’d I go from Documentaries and health/wellness which I’m interested in to a bar?

Great question but it’s definitely been worth it!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I recognized that the magic happens outside of your comfort zone, so I decided to embark on the journey of opening a nightlife experience in the heart of Miami Beach with absolutely no experience in hospitality or nightlife. And as Tony Robbins says “if you win, you’ll be happier, if you lose, you’ll be wiser”, and so I took the risk knowing that I wouldn’t allow myself to fail because of lack of hard work or lack of what I didn’t know instead I committed myself to learning… which turns out to be an on-going process in this business.

So despite many struggles, failures, and challenges, our business has not only survived but thrived greatly in part because of the spirit of our team. My staff is made up of determined, hardworking, and intelligent people who are committed to creating a work atmosphere that supports one another and seeks to empower its employees as oppose to micromanage anyone’s tasks. My manager, Megan Danilovic, is an absolute rockstar!

Drinkhouse Fire & Ice – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are Miami’s first and only Ice Bar with a cocktail lounge that features really fun fire shows. It’s an experience, not just another bar!

Guests frost themselves with our “Ice Bar Experience” – Enter our breathtaking, 23-degree winter wonderland constructed from 100,000 pounds of pure freshwater ice (yes, you could drink it). We provide faux fur coats and a pair of gloves to keep you warm before you begin your one-of-a-kind, exhilarating social experience. In the ice bar, guests enjoy specialty cocktails served in a hand-crafted glass made entirely from ice surrounded by professionally carved, custom ice sculptures. Following the ice bar guests hang out in our fire lounge where we have fire shows and DJ’s.

Once a month we feature nationally touring comedians who have appeared on Comedy Central, SNL, BET, etc and have them perform – it’s one of my favorite nights! We also have painting & wine classes, cocktail classes, and really unique events like Trap Yoga, and more.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Interesting question… Fire & Ice is a success – we are able to provide jobs for our employees so they can take care of themselves & their families while offering a positive work place in environment, all while having fun!

The interesting thing about “success” is that is varies for everyone. I can look at an experience, business, or relationship that might have not worked out, but can easily be a success in my mind, as long as a lesson was learned. I love what Coach John Wooden says, “Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming,”
