Meet Florida Atlantic University’s Chapter of Neg Kreyol Incorporated at Boca Raton

Today we’d like to introduce you to the Florida Atlantic University Chapter of Neg Kreyol Incorporated.

Neg Kreyol, Incorporated was founded on May 21, 2008, at the University of South Florida and currently has three chapters, the others being University of Central Florida and most recently, Florida Atlantic University in August of 2018. Neg Kreyol Inc. is a nonprofit student organization which focuses on benefiting other Haitian organizations, the Haitian community, and Haiti. Neg Kreyol’s purpose is to instill unity with men of Haitian descent. The vision that the founder of Neg Kreyol Inc., Dieunice Deris had for his organization in making an impact in our respective communities and our beautiful country of Haiti is continuously being pushed throughout all three chapters and within our pillars of networking, community service, brotherhood, professionalism, and leadership. As the Brotherhood of Neg Kreyol, Incorporated continues to grow, we plan to continue the work that our founder started in showcasing the beauty of our beloved Haiti.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road to success is never easy, but with proper dedication and determination, you are destined to reach your destination. Like any organization, Neg Kreyol, Incorporated has encountered its fair share of trials and tribulations within our three chapters, but the way we overcome these obstacles and challenges are what makes our organization stand so strongly to this day. The passion that we share for making an impact in our communities and Haiti is what ultimately helps us overcome all things.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Neg Kreyol Incorporated story. Tell us more about it.
As Neg Kreyol Incorporated, we work on and specialize in “The Empowerment of Haitian Men” through our five pillars of networking, community service, brotherhood, professionalism, and leadership. We work to increase the percentage of Haitian men as leaders in their community and become a role model for others. Neg Kreyol Inc, is known for its annual charity gala called White Noise, where we celebrate the Haitian culture and what it means to be a Haitian man. All the money raised from the gala goes toward our mission trip to an orphanage in Haiti. Also, we award two graduating seniors scholarships at the event as well. We are most proud of our initiative to always support and give back to the Haitian community as much as we can because we know that giving back is important. What sets us apart is that we are looking for Haitian men willing to become leaders and help the future generation and Haiti. As Haitian men, we are not looked at as being able to assist, learn, or educate one another. As a member of Neg Kreyol Inc., we hold ourselves to a certain standard and pillars we have to embody. Thus, the union of Haitian men to make a change to help others and give back to our homeland, Haiti speaks volumes alone.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
The role of luck plays a role in the organization both good and bad. Throughout life, we see that everything happens for a reason because life is so unpredictable. Good luck means that we been successful or blessed with an opportunity to build and grow from a goal we set in mind. Maintaining that energy is key to making the organization great in all of our endeavors. Bad luck means we did not accomplish a goal set forward or unforeseen circumstances have arrived that we to solve. Bad luck serves as lessons that we were not expecting to find out that way. The role of luck has played as lessons for the organization.
