Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalia Maxwell.
Natalia, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today.
I am originally from Bronx, New York and moved down to Tampa, Fl, my senior year of high school back in 2013. After graduating from high school I attended Florida Atlantic University, studying International Business and Trade with a minor in Marketing and graduated in May 2018. Since as long as I can remember I have wanted to become an attorney- therefore, the majority of my life I dreamed of going to law school, graduating and working my way up to becoming a partner and obtaining my very own corner office with a view. Growing up my parents were both entrepreneurs for the majority of my life. As I grew, life was financially tough which resulted in my correlation of entrepreneurship with struggle. This led me to form a negative perception of entrepreneurship and all it entailed. Never in a million years would I have thought that I would be a full-time entrepreneur at 22, with no plans of looking back.
During my college career, I worked full time, while attending school full time with no seasonal breaks (meaning I attended every semester of school- fall, spring, and summer for all of 4 years). While attending school full time I worked at eight different jobs full time, including a law firm, bank, Nordstrom and Amazon, just to name a few. During my time working in these different roles and totally different companies, I realized there was no way that I could work to make someone else rich for the rest of my life, there was NO WAY. I was miserable and realized there had to be more to life than working an unfulfilling job and then dying. At that moment of my epiphany, my perspective of entrepreneurship changed and I knew that I wanted to set an example for others, I wanted people to know they had a choice in the way their life played out and I wanted to show them how.
We’d love to hear more about your work. What do you do? Why? And what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My partner and I have a Marketing Management company by the name of Food For Thought Management, as well as a website design company by the name of WebJackerzz. Food For Thought specializes in Social media management, Brand strategy, and general Marketing services. My partner, Javier Lee and I strive to help businesses build and maintain a solid brand image and online presence. We understand that many business owners are unaware of the ins and outs of social media. Better yet they don’t have the time to maintain their social media platforms even if they did. That’s where we come in, we want to take the stress off of business owners so that they can focus on what they do best- their craft.
WebJackerzz specializes in complete and revamp website design, as well as Shopify Startup stores. Javier and I both strive to design websites that will JACK the attention of a business’ core consumer. With everything being online nowadays, it is important that business’ appreciate and use their online real estate as well as they can. Our job is to JACK the attention of their consumers through stunning design while integrating Search Engine Optimization rich elements.
My mother, Jennifer Maxwell, partner Javier Lee and myself have a handmade luxury hair accessories line where we design King’s Crowns (inspired by durags), Taji (inspired by bonnets) and SatWraps. SatWraps Royal Wear is dedicated to providing a product that men, women, and children can wear to protect their crown. Everyone deserves to feel like the King and Queen they are and SatWraps helps do just that through a versatile, fashionable crown that can be worn anywhere- anytime.
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
My key pieces of advice would be that execution is necessary and that everything doesn’t need to be perfect.
Perfectionism kills creativity, time is of the essence- find beauty in your mistakes because in every mistake or “failure” there is always a lesson to learn that will make you 10X greater.
Execution is necessary- if you have a great idea or plan but never execute it, then you never really had that idea or plan. Don’t be all talk, be a person who is an action taker- this will differentiate you from everyone else. When you take constant action you will refrain yourself from being all in your head, you won’t overthink so much, and the results will help to motivate you even more. Also, don’t wait to be motivated or inspired because honestly you can be motivated and inspired one day and it will be gone the next- but being disciplined will never fail you.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your work?
