Since I was little, I got inspired by my mother’s kitchen. Exploring ingredients, flavors and textures from the world. Being raised in Venezuela, in an Italian-food-centered family, inspired me to pursue a career in Gastronomy. I moved to Mexico, to acquire my Culinary Arts Degree. This encounter of cultures created the essence of my cuisine: a Latin Mediterranean fusion. Throughout the years, I was able to work providing catering services, cooking classes to children and adults and helping businesses grow with my consulting experience. Finally, I decided to embark in the entrepreneur world with “Esencias Café”, because it is a place that allows me to share all my skills and the knowledge gained through the engagement with my clients, friends and family. Esencias is a place where you can have a healthy, tasty meal at the best price, including breakfast and lunch buffet, pastries, dessert, coffee and more!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has a been a challenge to stand where I am standing now… Ten years ago, I had to leave my home country, Venezuela, and move to Mexico, and later on to United States. Moving out of my country, has been one, if not the greatest, obstacle I have faced. Adapting to a new culture and to new ways of living was hard at the beginning, but there are always things that make a rough road, smoother.
Owning my new cafe, Esencias, was an opportunity that even though I knew it will not be easy, it has been much simpler than what I thought, thanks to the cultural exchange I experienced while moving out of my homeland. When I started at Esencias Café, the business was already running with a great team, facilitating the creation of a new concept, menu and services, in which I have been working on for the past 9 months and I hope that the business will grow and succeed in the upcoming years.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up in my mom’s kitchen, always curious about what she was going to cook that day. That was my main interest when growing up. I was a happy, enthusiastic, joyful girl who enjoyed spending time outdoors, being with my family and friends, going to the beach, traveling and listening to music. However, I always returned back to food, food is the essence of my life.
