Meet Michelle Dempsey of Very Well-Written Marketing in North Miami Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Dempsey.

Michelle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Well, to start, I’m a native-New Yorker who made the big move to Aventura just shy of 6 years ago – a move that changed my life forever.

I studied Journalism at American University, Communications at Hofstra University and worked in the public relations industry in New York City before taking a leap into teaching. Now, I know what you’re asking yourself, “Teaching after Public Relations?!” Well, yes, and I credit that to my stepfather (whom I miss terribly) and will honor that decision forever! I shortly thereafter received a double Masters degree in Childhood Education from Adelphi University.

Teaching was great for a long time. Whether I was inside or outside of the classroom, however, writing was still my passion – and finally, the universe gave me all the signs I needed to delve deeper into the dark, twisted, fantasy that is “the writing world”.

After starting a small blog and submitting my work to publications such as HuffPost, Elite Daily, Daily Business Review, Medium, Mindbodygreen, Scary Mommy and Creative Child Magazine, writing quickly went from a passionate hobby to a thriving career. My friends began calling for website content, blog content and help with email marketing. As they begun jumping onboard, that quickly evolves to content marketing train and my business was born in early 2016.

Since making my mark on the Miami marketing world, offering content marketing and SEO services to businesses around the globe, we’ve evolved into a full scale content marketing firm. We offer services such as web design, web content, blogging and SEO-strategy, email marketing, social media management and strategy, as well as consulting and brand strategy development. We work with professionals and businesses in the legal, medical, chiropractic, real estate and beauty industries.

I love what I do, especially because it leads to me to speak on many stages and help empower other business owners, female entrepreneurs, and marketing experts to find their voice and lead their businesses with confidence.

My most important role in life, however, is being Mommy to my 3-year-old daughter Bella, my muse and inspiration for all that I do.

When I am not busy writing the day away for my clients or myself, I am very busy on my quest towards enlightening and empowering women. I speak regularly to female audiences to help inspire and empower them and I recently launched a female networking group in the South Florida area that I co-founded last year.

I hate to brag, but, I have recently been published by Forbes and I am a proud contributing writer for Huffington Post, Elite Daily, Scary Mommy, Creative Child Magazine, BabyMaternity Magazine and MindBodyGreen. I am also actively writing my own personal memoir – and I consider all of the aforementioned work to be an absolute labor of love.

Above all else, however, I am a mommy to my two-year-old daughter, Bella and 9-year-old Dog-baby, Blue, a daughter, a sister, and a best friend. I need coffee, wine, and Pilates to function (not usually at the same time). I love long, lazy beach days, binge-watching Netflix shows, going into Target for one thing and leaving with 15, Mexican food, sushi and sleep. Lots and lots of sleep.

Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing worth having comes without a little struggle and if it were easy – would it even be worth it? No, definitely not. In my 34 years of life, I have learned one thing – mistakes teach us what we need to know. I’ve made plenty, of course! I started a business without having any business background at all and did it while my daughter was barely a year old. I got separated in year 2 of my building my business, adding a whole other level of stress to the mix. I had to learn quickly that, in business, there are ebbs and flows just like in every other part of life – and it was normal to have a slow month here and there. I am still learning every day and can’t believe how far I’ve come personally and professionally in just a blip of time and I’m eager for all the rest that’s to come.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Very Well-Written is a full-scale content marketing company that focuses on using authentic and professionally written content to help businesses stand apart from their competitors. We are known for our ability to connect with a client’s specific voice and find what makes them unique, translating that into informative blog content that boosts their website’s analytics and web traffic and gives them a subject matter expert reputation. We create unique email marketing and social media strategies that also serve the same purpose – driving traffic, converting potential clients into loyal customers, and solidifying a brand reputation. What truly sets us apart is that we are committed to working one-on-one with each client, developing a consultant-like relationship and getting to know the ins and outs of their businesses before building plans to implement, instead of taking a retainer fee and doling out inauthentic content.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Every single day, I am grateful to have started my business in Miami. There was a big need for what I do here, especially when I saw how over-saturated the legal and real estate industries were here. Miami is also chock-full of incredible networking opportunities, charitable causes to get involved in, and young, eager entrepreneurs such as myself. It was the perfect storm for me, helping me to grow and network quickly and efficiently and if I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t do it anywhere but Miami.
