Meet Madeline Lawson of Falcon Protection Agency & Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madeline Lawson.

Madeline, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am originally from Haiti, I came here in 1985 at the age of 8 years old. I grew up in the foster care system. I have four children two boys two girls which are all in college, very proud mom.

I became a security officer in 2001 but that wasn’t paying well so I decided to go to college and become a Radiology Technologist. In 2011 I applied for a contract position as a radiology technologist at a federal prison in Miami I was employed there for about 5 years. While working at the prison I notice know how private security company was hired there and they were escorting/driving inmates back and forth to their doctor’s appointments.

So I decided why not try to open my own private security company. I went on Google did my research and applied for all the certificate that I need to own a security company. It took some time and patience but eventually, I got everything that I needed. I did go back and try to get the contract at the federal prison but later found out that the prison no longer were accepting private security vendors. I’ve been open for a year-and-a-half I have about four contracts at the moment hopefully by the end of the year I can get four more contracts that’s my goal for 2018.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been kind of a struggle because owning a private security company is sort of kind of a man dominant industry. For instance, trying to bid for contracts as a small company is very hard to obtain considering you’re bidding against bigger security company and as a woman, it’s really hard to bid against these giant companies.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Falcon Protection Agency & Services, LLC – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Falcon Protection Agency & Services, LLC is a private security company that provides security for residential commercial, retail, schools, nursing, home, hospitals, and events. What’s set me apart from some other security companies is that FPAS is a woman-owned and a small family business so anytime anyone calls they will get me directly and I will focus on their businesses to make sure that we provide great service.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like best about the city is the diversities, the Caribbean feel to it, the warm atmosphere, the friendliness and the family-oriented is probably what I like most about it.
