Today we’d like to introduce you to Luisa Glumm.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always loved fashion and art. Since a very young age, it’s been an important part of my life. My mom still jokes about me being very decisive about the dresses I’d choose to go to kindergarten with. Growing up, my friends started having parties and wanting outfits and I used to help them style outfits and slowly started also -without even thinking about it, even designing. When one of my best friends was getting married, she told me I was the maid of honor and I was free to make whatever dress I wanted. That was my first awesome baby. So awesome, I was asked if I had four more like that one to take to TV.
That moment was so reassuring and so inspiring, that I decided to start my own line.
Since then, I started carefully designing & crafting pieces made with all my love and passion.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think any entrepreneur’s voyage is smooth. Ever. I think it’s definitely a roller coaster. On top of that, Venezuela, my home town, has been undergoing a very strong crisis. This made me have to look for opportunities in other places, which is difficult, but a great opportunity as well to explore new horizons you actually never thought possible. I think life is full of surprises. So, if you have discipline, focus, patience and perseverance, you’re definitely able to overcome all of the struggles that are bound to appear on the road.
Please tell us about Del Marte.
I’m great at styling, I absolutely love it! I think I’m also very good and I completely enjoy mixing materials and styles & shopping. But I would say I’m also great at designing. My baby is called Del Marte and we specialize in versatile cocktailwear. Pieces that can easily go from day to night, mixing them with different accessories or styles. We make special, unique pieces. The focus is on supporting slow fashion, making timeless, treasurable pieces.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I would say my grandparent’s beach house in Margarita Island in Venezuela. We used to spend soooo many summers there and the vibe was just amazing. Nothing else in the entire world would make me happier. Running around the beach looking for pebbles and conchs.
