So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
House Heroes LLC was founded in September 2013. I began learning the ins and outs of house flipping from the local real estate community. I was mentored by experienced investors on my first couple house flips and I was hooked, I branched out on my own. House Heroes always puts the home owner first, and we have multiple video testimonials from satisfied clients. I’ve now flipped houses across Miami-Dade County. I opened our website in the beginning of 2016, which has allowed my company to connect with Miami property owners, whether they live in South Florida or anywhere in the U.S. I also give back to the community: I mentor junior investors who are just learning how to flip houses, and I also lend money to investors looking for a way to fund their own deals. House Heroes has grown from one man, to having an Acquisitions Manager, an associated brokerage, in-house marketing team, and virtual assistant
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Real estate investing is always challenging. In the beginning, it was very difficult to find properties to flip. I scoured the local MLS, tried to work with realtors, sent hand-written letters. Once I focused on connecting directly with Miami citizens, those personal relationships blossomed into more transactions. I wasn’t familiar with real estate contracts or managing large scale renovations. My first flip took 8-months when it could have been completed in 3-months. Now, I’ve gotten it down to a science. Practice makes perfect!

House Heroes is set apart from others because we are true professionals that provide honest guidance. We always suggest the best course of action for a home seller, regardless of whether we make a cent or not. The most common example is if a person calls us with a house in excellent condition. Rather than try to make them sell at our price, we recommend they find a realtor and list on the MLS because that will maximize value for them. Miami homeowners appreciate that, and commonly they let us know they appreciate our frankness, honesty, and fair treatment. We also provide anyone in Florida a “free home report” so they can see all the sales information that we see. We are further set apart because we are actually investors with cash in the bank to buy houses. Sadly, there are many real estate investors out there who will tell anyone that they want to hear, waste an owner’s time, and back out at the last minute. We are “proven” closers who put money in homeowner’s pockets fast, and then fix-and-flip!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
House Heroes has grown from small 800 sq. ft. properties to residential multi-families. We’ve purchases houses as low as $20,000 to as high as $350,000. We plan to move forward on building houses and apartments from the ground up! Additionally, to better service the Miami community, we partnered and are in the beginning stages of forming House Heroes Realty to help get houses in “tip top” condition listed on the MLS for maximum exposure to regular home buyers.
