Meet Carolyn Zaumeyer of LowTE Florida in Fort Lauderdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolyn Zaumeyer.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Carolyn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was raised in California on a large horse farm. I have lived in California, Oregon, Tennessee, Nassau, New Jersey, Miami Beach, and Fort Lauderdale. I worked on cruise ships for five years, then decided to grow up, landed in Fort Lauderdale, and started college.

I worked my way through school, working on the transplant team for the University of Miami. I attended Broward College, Miami Dade, and FIU. Taught at FIU, FAU, and most recently, Duke University. Two years after graduating as a Nurse Practitioner, I started the first independent nurse practitioner practice in Florida. I have been providing gynecology services to women of all ages in Fort Lauderdale for 28+ years. I have studied around the country under the nation’s most knowledgeable hormone experts. I became the first BioTE hormone pellet therapy practitioner in Florida and have been the number one BioTE provider in Florida for the past several years – meaning, I treat more people in Florida with the BioTE method than any of the other providers.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?Hahahahaha! That would be a “no.” I tend to rephrase “struggles, problems, obstacles, etc.” as” challenges.“ Being a “risk-taker,” I put myself out there and sometimes stumble – but I always land on my feet.

For many years I prescribed synthetic hormones (Eg: Premarin) to menopausal women. In 2002 there was a huge study (The Women’s Health Initiative), and the results were indicating an increased risk of heart attack, stroke, DVT, breast cancer, and Alzheimer’s Disease with synthetic hormones. Over 80% of the women on hormones at that time discontinued taking them. I had to take a step back and seek out a solution for all my patients that were suffering from menopausal symptoms. Studying Bio-Identical Hormone Therapy was the answer I wanted to be the best and know that I was prescribing safely ~ the right hormone, right dose, and the safest delivery system.

A physician I shared space with tried to capture (steal) my gynecology and hormone practice. I prevailed after months of legal wrangling, I received back my patient records and some of the money owed.

We’d love to hear more about your practice.
I am a Nurse Practitioner and Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement expert. I provide quality hormone therapy to both men and women. Originally, I specialized in gynecology – providing care to women of all ages, as I saw the menopausal women suffering, I mastered hormone replacement therapy. I am known for providing competent, caring, and safe natural hormone replacement therapy. Many times, when I walk into a restaurant, I hear “there’s the hormone lady” or something like that. I like seeing my patients out and about.

I love my practice – I wake up every morning excited and ready to get to work! Every day I see people who are not feeling well as their hormones naturally decline with aging, I am able to not only give them hope but quickly, get them feeling better. I utilize the BioTE medical pellet therapy, providing hormone replacement to both men and women. My therapy is based on science – not guesswork. I have a Nurse Practitioner, Rachael Storm and two office staff that makes up our dynamic team.

I have in-depth knowledge of hormones and women’s health. Many practitioners go to a weekend course and then add Bio-Identical hormone therapy to their practice as an additional revenue stream. I have studied (and continue to study) hormones for many years ~ this is what I know and am very passionate about not only the feel-good effects of Bio-Identical Hormones ~ but the health benefits as well. I know how to treat my patients utilizing the right hormones (bio-identical), the right amounts (scientifically dosed), and the safest delivery system (the BioTE pellet method.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I am very fortunate – my family has always been there to lend an ear and help me problem solve. My life, love, and business partner Alex is my biggest cheerleader ~ he created a beautiful office space for me and has been by my side helping me every step of the way for the past seven years.
