Meet Laurie Alfano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laurie Alfano.

Hi Laurie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been a creative person who loves to learn and enjoy life to the fullest. My college sweetheart and I moved from New York to Florida after 9/11. The world was shifting and we needed to as well. After birthing two beautiful children and itching to get back in the game- I landed in the fitness field, which offered freedom, independence and of course, creativity. Having and Dance and Communications degree of course helped, but my love for movement is where my passion shined through. I was definitely in the right place at the right time (thank you universe) and connected with ambitious instructors like myself who wanted to grow in the field. Certifications, workshops, classes, I did as many as I could and eventually took a position at a new company as the Director of Education and Training. I was now creating courses and workshops while also certifying thousands of instructors worldwide. I felt like a mom to each and every student I had over the years and continue to help mentor many to this day. As the company shifted, I did as well and now I run my own Fitness Community which offers certifications, classes, workshops and genuine support. I align my students with daily energy guidance by combining my professional fitness experience with my professional Astrology experience. I became an Astrologer is 2018 and it enhanced my teaching massively. People look to fitness and astrology for guidance and I love helping guide anyone who asks. The world needs support and if I can help bring a smile, add energy or just make their booty look great – I’m in!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Yes and no. Inwardly, yes, it has been a smooth road. When you set your eyes on a goal, there is no looking back and my goal is to help people. Outwardly has definitely had some bumps. Sometimes life has to be juggled and I look for a work-life balance, but there’s no definitive meaning there. So travel delays, missed lacrosse games, energy vampires can surely make the work more challenging. Covid as much as it hindered some of my ability to help people, conversely propelled me into the online space where I can help even more people. Astrologically, there’s always Mercury Retrograde that happens three times a year-lol. Technology was challenging for some clients in the beginning, but we’ve come together happily to stay connected and healthy to this day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In the fitness field, I am known as the teacher’s teacher. I bring vast knowledge and a strong communication skill to all my clients. My courses and classes are fun, engaging, achievable and results-driven. As a Teacher Trainer, my goal is to make sure each and every student walks away ready to teach and be successful. As an Instructor, I specialize in Pilates and bring the principles to all my classes, whether HIIT, Barre or any other format. My barre classes set me apart from other instructors as I’ve set the standard for a top-notch class in the industry through my training all these years. Musicality, cues, unique results-driven moves and of course energy, I bring out what some have hiding inside. In my class everyone is at their best form. I am over 40 now, so strength training is becoming a stronger focus right now, I created a new class called FLEX. What I’m most proud of is my signature NOGA classes, where I blend astrology and movement. Being able to teach two things I truly love (and have a tribe to support me) is the best thing anyone could ever ask for.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What is there to not like? Palm trees, beautiful weather, lovely people, great restaurants… I feel truly blessed to live here.
