In addition, Lauren was a guest host for two years on a nationally aired Fox News Radio teen segment, lending some insight on the lives of teenagers.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
‘The Adventures of Lala and her Papa’ is the true story of Carlos Rigau, a News PhotoJournalist and his adventures chasing news stories around the world throughout nearly forty years, as seen through the eyes of his daughter, Lauren Rigau aka ‘LaLa’.
Carlos has captured it all. The array of notoriety for his work ranges from Emmy Awards to a Silver Angel Award… Along the way his eye has captured images that have touched the lives of so many, that is what inspired this book.
Growing up in a world bustling with Breaking News from the second she was born, Carlos’s daughter LaLa, knew that writing about her father’s adventures was the only solution. After spending a year volunteering to teach children in low-income schools about the love of reading, LaLa was inspired to turn all of her Papa’s memories into a Children’s book!
LaLa hopes this book will inspire children to get to know the world around them, all the while understanding the responsibility of Newsgathering and those who gather it.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I hold dear to my heart having had the opportunity to start my career at the humble age of 13 hosting on NBC in Miami. My experiences within the Entertainment arena are invaluable, it’s in my blood. I feel my passions molded me into a content curator and writer, that truly has a full grasp of the Media Industry, after having worked every angle of production.
The understanding of our world today and how vital social communication is to the future of 21st-century companies, all came together with ‘The Adventures of Lala and her Papa’.
This book took about four years to come to its fruition, but every step of the process made the journey that much more meaningful. I worked with Illustrator AnnMarie Rapach, to bring LaLa and Papa’s characters to life.
Each stroke of creativity is epitomized in the sketches, that line by line created the characters, which you too will come to live through and love. Now timeless colors and images tell the story of a little girl, who looked up to her Papa and his career as a photojournalist, throughout her life.
Teamwork was a vital component of bringing my vision into reality.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My career has been full of moments, which have sparked my “proud factor,” if you will.
I think the fact that I’ve used every single experience from my college internship at Access Hollywood, my News Apprenticeship with CBS, living in Los Angeles Acting in TV and Film, Hosting, Producing and Writing… to help create a multi-media, content curator role for myself in the world… that makes me proud.
The key to living in our socially globalized world is never being afraid to expand your horizons. Try new things and use every ounce of experience you garnered along the way to mold every new experience you choose to take on.
I am proud of not being afraid to say why not? Try it, it feels AMAZING!
