Meet Kale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kale.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kale. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m just an artist from Daytona Beach, FL. My sounds are inspired by soul music and some mellow vibes. My first influences on music came from the church choir. From there, I just loved all kinds of music. My first intro to hip hop was in 1st grade and found the local hip hop radio station. That was when I began to love it. Music was always apart of my life whether it was choir, orchestra, band, or just me rapping in the hallways. I didn’t start taking rap seriously until the end of 2018. I asked someone to make a song with them and they said I was “clout chasing”, that changed everything for me.

My music is just a reflection of what I’ve been through and seen in my environment. I challenge myself to just share these stories but in different ways. It can be a slow tune or a hyped song; either way I will tell a story or explanation of me.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been easy at all. My hardest struggle is just getting supporters. But I just stay true to myself and continue working on my craft. If I stay real and true to myself the recognition will come easy. The Bible says that “no prophet is accepted in his hometown”, I’m not a prophet but I know someone is designed to hear my voice. I won’t stop until then.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
As an artist, I can only continue to create. What makes me proud is when people come up to me and talk about my music. Sometimes they say I inspire them and they listen to it regularly. That’s the best feeling.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I’ve been living in Jacksonville since 2016. I never noticed how many talented artists are in the city. The level of professionalism and commitment to their artistry is amazing. Sometimes it’s better than people that we see mainstream. There isn’t much I dislike about the creative community here. I only just begun to dive into.
