Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Wiggins.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Justin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Ever since I was a child, I knew that I wanted to do music. During late 2016, I was currently still in college and I had an epiphany. I felt something in my chest telling me that this wasn’t the path for me. I wanted to do music for the rest of life. At that moment, I made a decision – I left everything in Virginia without hesitation and flew to Miami. Once I came to Miami, I began to work on my knowledge and dedication within the music industry for six months. This includes the aspects between production, business, marketing and so much more. My love for music began at the age of five, when I discovered Pharrell – he is my inspiration due to his complexity within the music industry. Today, I got to where I am based on the nonstop failures and challenges I’ve been through during the beginning of my musical journey. These “failures” made me who I am today and helped my growth not only as a producer but as a person as well. In April 2016, I had a friend that sent an email of my beats and tracks to his neighbor who happened to be, KC from KC and The Sunshine Band. Within two weeks, KC wanted collaboration and to use my tracks for his music. And that was the beginning of Justin Wiggins as a producer.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all – it has been a rough road with many ups and downs. Some struggles along the way were to learn how to separate personal relationships and music. Honestly, I’ve lost many close people in my life because of not knowing the boundaries within relationships and the music industry. Some other struggles involved finding the right artist and creating a perfect team for BluePrint Family Productions. It’s quite difficult to find others who have the same drive and dedication as you do for music. The hardest struggle was attempting to continue doing music while going through a heartbreak. I didn’t want to do anything and didn’t even feel like myself. It was difficult to make beautiful tracks, while I was hurting in every aspect.
Please tell us about your company.
BluePrint Family Productions is a label, movement and family. The concept for BluePrint Family was built through the inspiration by Bad Boy, Roc-A-Fella, and other big labels. We wanted an original label, including its sound and flow. Originally, South Florida is mainly known for its Hip-Hop – So, I want to infuse both genres of R&B and Hip-Hop and bring the best out of South Florida’s talent. I am known as the producer. I collaborate with the roles within engineering, mixing and mastering, vocal production, marketing, branding, etc. This Partnership includes Eli Hawkins and Lina Reign. In BluePrint Family Productions, I believe everyone should be able to play each role of every aspect and it’s always a team effort. So it isn’t just me at all.
As a company, I am most proud of the growth and progress of Lina Reign. The increase within the talent, publications, collaborations and respect from other artists is allowing her to flourish in the music industry. Being able to witness and experience the evolvement within her personally and musically is beautiful, especially since we started from nothing together. What sets us apart from others is being able to put hard-core rappers on R&B tracks. We focus to go against the normal and popular sound, It’s easily criticized but also varies greatly received. Also, the family dynamic and the creation of sound we make is our originality.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I am most proud of the growth and progress of Me really believing in myself, it’s honestly been a tough rode, just losing a lot of special relationships with the people you started with, Getting the opportunity to collaborate with artist I’ve looked up to for years, and them giving me the keys to bringing their vision to life.
