Today we’d like to introduce you to Julieanne Salmon.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always tell people wedding planning found me. I was just getting into the beauty side of the industry and I was given a chance to work as a planner with a friend. I quickly realized is was my long term career choice. After many years of working weddings as a side job, I quit my day job and dove right into the Industry. Just Glam was born and the rest is history!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth road? HA! Nope. I naturally roll with the bumps, but business isn’t easy. And being a wedding planner was voted the fifth most stressful american job by CBS News. I would say the biggest struggle is a balance. I work long hours, weekends and many holidays. I also have to balance that with my social life, a husband and my three children.
The biggest challenge in this industry is standing apart from the rest. I choose to be myself and be true to my motto – I’m only as good as the team I surround myself with. So I recommend other bad ass vendors and pray for perfect weather!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Just Glam Events story. Tell us more about the business.
At Just Glam, we specialize in wedding planning, but more so we are creating an experience for our clients and their guests. It’s not just recommending vendors, timelines or reading contracts. We like to have a special connection with our couples. We are probably best known for the personalized service we give our couples. No two couples receive the same vendor recommendations nor the same guidance. Everything is personalized based on their particular needs.
I believe its our customer service and our ability to bring together great vendor teams that sets us apart from others. There is no better compliment than hearing that the team I put together has exceeded the expectations of our couples or better yet had wowed the guests.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck… hmm. I have a love and hate relationship with luck. Sometimes, I feel as though every time I feel lucky, I can trace it straight back to me working my ass off for the prize. Business wise, I was lucky for the people in my life urging me to jump into my dream job!
