Meet Josiane Nukafu Marshall of Close to USA in Miami Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josiane Nukafu Marshall.

Josiane, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hello, I am the founder of Close to USA.

I was born in Paris, France and I’ve first moved to the US in 2011, I went to Nicholls State University in Louisiana as an exchange student. I really enjoyed this experience and I met the love of my life.

After completing my exchange student program, I had to go back to France to finish my Master degree. In 2014, I came back to the United States, after finding an internship in Miami. It was a big challenge to find a paid internship in the US. It took me a long time and a lot of search. I felt that I was not the only one dealing with this problem. So, I decided to create a Facebook group “Les Frenchies aux Etats-Unis” to help French speakers in finding opportunities in the US. I’ve been helping and advising for free a community of thousands (more than 13k) of active members who trust and support me.

Then, I decided to open my own company and help students and young professionals in finding a paid internship in the US.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There is no success without challenges. Nothing good comes easy.

I learned a lot from my experiences good or bad and that what makes me the woman that I am today.

I am from France so, I had to adapt myself to a new language, new country, new culture.

American business is very different from French business and it was very interesting to learn how to work with both.

My business allowed me to work with people from all over to the world, this is why I can adapt myself in any environment.

Close to USA is a Paris and Miami based company whose goal is to help European’s top talents students and young professionals in finding paid internships in the USA.

Our candidates are qualified and multilingual and we are specialized in a wide range of fields (Hospitality, Finance, Business, Engineering, Management). Our candidates are available for full-time positions (40hrs/week) and for up to 18 months. Our services are free for companies.

We’ve already helped hundreds of companies fill their open internship positions with qualified students and young professionals. We also helped a lot of young professionals in realizing their American dream. Some of them are still in the US, with great jobs.

Our prices are very affordable, we made sure that we are accessible to the average person. we also supply our candidates with the necessary visa paperwork if needed (J-1 visa), a health insurance and an appropriate housing solution so that everyone has a good experience.

What were you like growing up?
I have always been a nice and sociable person. I love the contact with others, I really enjoy meeting new people and discover new cultures.

I am very creative, I always have new things that I want to do or try.

I also like to laugh and make people around me happy, that why I choose this job because it allows me to change people’s lives and make them feel successful.
