Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Parlangeli.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
No story here, just a feeling. I have been creating since I was a child and the emotional release of creating simply grew stronger year by year. Now, 30 years in my artworks can be seen as a process based transcendence of energy into the physical realm…
Please tell us about your art.
My art is made up of many things, but first and foremost I am a process based artist who finds true pleasure in material experimentation. I live for discovered moments of color and movement and the bold physicality of my paints. There are also elements of nature and/or humanity in my work that, depending on what may be happening at the time, mix about with the abstract elements to create a sort of historic bibliophile in the paint. Either way, my message for the viewer is simple. Enjoy my work for its visual elements. Experience the excitement of the micro, macro, and then the subliminal. Rinse and repeat.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
The most difficult challenge all artists face is getting noticed by those that count-patrons, clients and gallerists- who can enact positive change to an artist’s career. Social media really helps these days, but without consistent and professional attention to the business side of their art the challenge will remain insurmountable.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I work with a few different galleries, but the best way to view what I’m doing is through my website: www.jonparlangeli.com or email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
