Meet John Florey of SAMA Labs in Boca Raton

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Florey, President of SAMA Labs.

John, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
SAMA Labs was initially created to help friends and family with their brands, and allow them to overcome the challenges of digital marketing through our own experiences. About six and a half years ago, this all started with the founder, Thomas Desernia created our flagship brand, SA Company ( out of his bedroom as a dental student. Since then, SA Company has become a globally recognized brand, along with two other e-commerce brands that we also run and manage today; & out of our Boca Raton HQ.

For the last two years, SAMA Labs has been growing at a rapid rate as a full-service creative ad agency. With a team of over 30 in-house, we manage over 70 brands to support them with; Video Production, Web Design, Creative Branding, Email Marketing, Digital Media Planning & Buying, and more.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We’ve had our fair share of challenges, but overall our processes have kept up with our growth and we always continue to innovate and modify things as we hit certain milestones.

Staffing the right team can be a struggle. Our team works REALLY hard for the brands we manage. There are some hard-working companies out there, but this team grinds and I couldn’t be more proud of them and their effort. Fortunately, we have partners within Lynn University, Palm Beach Tech Association and many others in the community to help us find the right people.

Please tell us about your business.
SAMA Labs is a full-service creative ad agency. However, our biggest difference is the fact we own our brands, too. Since we have the “we built it first” advantage, we bring a lot more than running your ads to the table. For example, many e-commerce companies struggle with navigating growth.

While we handle all aspects of digital marketing; Creative Production (Video, Photo, Graphics, Web), Digital Media Planning and Buying, Email Marketing, SEM/SEO and more, we assist companies in understanding how to improve operational deficiencies, finances, and more. We try to add more value than they can handle!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Talk about a curveball! Hmm – a tough one, but I think it has to be when my family would plan our annual Disney trip. As a kid, I looked forward to that every year. Many other things come to mind, but that certainly stands out.
