Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Baldelomar.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have dedicated a big part of my professional life to the non-profit world. I started with the American Red Cross as a Disaster Responder and from there became an employee working in different areas from Volunteer Services to Service to the Armed Forces. I have always believed that the greatest mission in my life is that of alleviating human suffering. As my time at Red Cross passed; I was fortunate to have been offered a position at Gift of Life Marrow Registry as a Community Engagement Coordinator.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I can say that have hit some rough spots on the road but I have been able to turn those struggles around to become a better human and overall a better person.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Gift of Life Marrow Registry – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
At Gift of Life, we believe every person battling blood cancer deserves a second chance at life — and we are determined to make it happen. I am most proud that as a non-profit organization we are singularly passionate about engaging the public to help us get everyone involved in curing blood cancer, whether as a donor, a volunteer or a financial supporter.
I specialize in educating our communities and all of those interesting in learning about what a difference can someone make by a simple cheek swab. I truly believe that what set us apart from others if that we make sure people understand that It all begins with one remarkable person, one life-changing swab and one huge win: finding a match and a cure.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I can’t foresee future plans and I like to be in now, but I do hope I can still be able to continue spreading the word and fighting; so that every patient in need has a better chance to find a donor!
