Meet Jennifer Moriyon and Candice Montros of The Brunchin Pup in Kendall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Moriyon and Candice Montros.

Jennifer and Candice, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The Brunchin Pup is a company built on friendship, for the love of dogs. We’ve been best friends for over a decade, and have both become super passionate about rescue animals in the last few years. After we each adopted dogs from the shelter, we noticed the negative stigma that follows rescued animals. Many people see them as less desirable, harder to train, or even not as cute as a dog you can buy, so that’s where our idea started. If we can create items that are fun and trendy and use that as a tool to promote adopting, it’s a different way to change people’s perspective. We launched our online store a little over a year ago and the response from our local community, as well as online customers, has been amazing! Our hope is to continue to grow, and our dream is for our online store to fund a fully functioning dog rescue one day. We want to reinvent the adoption process for people as well as start a movement to make rescuing the new trend!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As with any small business, we have faced so many obstacles we never imagined we would face when we started. We both work full-time jobs, and start working on The Brunchin Pup as soon as we get home, so it is hard. But when you’re passionate about something, you find the energy and drive to get you through those tough times. We’ve hit many walls along the way, but we have each other to lean on, which has been such a blessing. We take a moment, regroup, and tackle the problem from a different angle. As we continue, we know we’ll be faced with more growing pains but we’re confident we’ll get through any problems together and with the support of our community.

Please tell us about The Brunchin Pup.
We create custom and handmade products for pets, including bandanas, tags, treat jars, bowls, mugs, and shirts. What sets us apart from similar shops is our ability to create fully custom projects for our customers. We also have created our own custom products that have been really successful within our shop and we continue to push ourselves to continue creating new and fresh products.

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
We’ve received so many messages of people who really understand and stand behind our cause and nothing makes us prouder. Although we love providing our customers with cute and custom items for their pets, above that our mission is always to promote adoption and how life changing that can be, for both the pet and their forever home.
