Meet Jennifer Cortiella

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Cortiella.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I specialize in wedding photography because it enables me to tell a story that lets people go back in time and feel the emotion of the moment all over again. I read once that, “photos are a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone.” This expression ignited the fire that eventually led me to follow my childhood dream, take the leap, and start Cortiella Photography. It has been a whirlwind adventure as I continue to learn and hone my techniques!

At my core, I am a Miami native with an adventurous spirit, a world traveler that loves to learn and experience the different aspects of art and culture through photography, music, and fashion. I have hiked Machu Pichu, the Grand Canyon, and zip lined my way across South America. I have moonlighted as a Private Investigator, Bail Bondsman, Fashion Designer, and daylight as a paralegal; but the crown jewels of my life are my girls: my princess and my fur baby. I am bound and determined to live my life to the fullest so my children’s children can look back at my photos and be inspired to live their best life as well.

Please tell us about your art.
I’m a wedding photographer for madly in love couple’s, I’m the photographer that will be there for you to fluff out your dress or tie your shoes, I’m the photographer that will grab your hand and help you walk in those high heels, I’m the photographer that you can call to get advice on your wedding details, I’m the photographer that will take out my emergency kit and start sewing that dress, I’m the photographer that will cry when photographing your 1st look and when dancing your 1st dance as husband and wife. I’m the photographer that capture emotions and candid moment’s to tell your love story. Because I truly believe my job entails so much more than one day of shooting.

I want to give my couples a memorable experience by providing natural, fun, unique and non-traditional images that represent them as a couple. I believe in creating dynamic, comfortable photography sessions that allow them to relax and reveal his or her true personality. I also value individuality and understand that each couple photographic style will be different, making me passionate about getting to know them. I want my couple when they look back at their photos in 40 years, I want them to see themselves their real, beautiful, flawed selves in their truest form.

What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
In my opinion, it is getting harder for an artist today due to the saturated market in our city. But that shouldn’t discourage you that means you just have to work a little bit harder to stand out meaning be intentional with your clients, offer and amazing client experience and like one of mentor would say ” do what you say you’ll do” also stay humble and help upcoming artist with your knowledge and guidance. One of my beliefs is community over competition.
