Meet Jean Phoenix Le Grand of The Legacy Brands in Ft. Lauderdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jean Phoenix Le Grand.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jean Phoenix. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story, in particular, the chapter that begins in South Florida, is a story of exploration, discovery, adaptation, expansion and evolution. I was raised in Brooklyn, NY and moved to this area in 2002. With me, I brought my lifelong roots within the Martial Arts. Initially, I set out to grow and expand my system of combat and school called Lost Legacy Traditional Mixed Martial Arts. I could have gone anywhere in the world but after one brief visit to Florida, I knew that this was the atmosphere and the environment that would inspire me to achieve what I set out to accomplish – which was to build a personal and professional brand, rooted in what was my identity and my bedrock: Martial Arts.

Fast forward: after 45 years within the martial arts (33 years as an instructor and an 8th Dan/Degree Black Belt), I continue to build an incredible brand, a Legacy, that has actually expanded beyond my martial arts to include health & fitness, independent film and music. All of my businesses are operated under The Legacy Brands and everything that I do creatively is about living the legacy that my Ancestors have laid before me. I am able to move fluidly and harmoniously between all of these roles because of my strong martial arts foundation and because I see them all as creative, far-reaching platforms where I can share my vision to the masses and solidify my place and purpose in this world.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t call them struggles – I call them obstacles. And I have definitely navigated my way through many. But once you truly discover who and what you are, what your vision is and committing to the idea that you WILL have obstacles, the road will become seemingly less bumpy. Again, I have my Martial Arts foundation to thank, which helped me face my deepest challenges because it helped to shape my character, strengthen my self-discipline and my mental and emotional responses to life’s circumstances.

Please tell us about The Legacy Brands – what should we know?
The Legacy Brands is comprised of all of my creative endeavors. My martial arts instruction is through Lost Legacy Systems Traditional Mixed Martial Arts of South Florida, which is an eclectic and evolving system of Chinese Kung Fu, Japanese Karate, Jiu Jutsu, Korean Tae Kwon Do, Ninpo/Ninjutsu and recently infused with more African Montu Arts and African-based Martial Sciences. After 20 years, we are still one of the most sought-after systems, highly recognized for its survivalist, realistic combat, high energy and explosive styles effective in any and all self-defense and self-awareness circumstances.

I am a personal fitness trainer and body transformation expert under my system and lifestyle brand Phoenix Core BTE where I teach individuals how to achieve optimum physical fitness to suit their desired lifestyle. I train beginners that are just looking to become healthier to the most advanced, elite athletes that are competing in professional sports organizations.

I am also a filmmaker, director and fight choreographer within the independent action film genre under my companies JPL Films, It’s Your Best Kept Secret Multimedia Group and Team Legacy Stunts of South Florida & NY. Our filmography keeps growing and we will be going into production on several EPIC film projects in 2020.

Last but not least, I am a music producer and conscious hip-hop artist under IYBKS, Inc. and with my partners in FL and NY under our production, publishing and artist development company The Nex-Us. We have a full roster of artists that we are developing and creating a sound that we intend to catapult in leaps and bounds in 2020.

Yes, it seems like a lot but this is how I express all of my creative skills and passions. This is what makes me unique. The visions that I can share with the world through these creative expressions is what will further establish my Legacy.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
There are many. But if I had to pick the one that seems the most important after many years in the game, it would be authenticity. We all go through many phases in our personal and professional lives. When we look back on the times where we didn’t feel aligned with our purpose or with the circle of individuals we surrounded ourselves with, it’s because we weren’t being authentic. We’d put on a mask and wear it as a means to survive. Once you can live in harmony with your authentic self you can remove the mask, and achieve the level of success in all areas of your life that you truly desire and with no regrets. Start building your own legacy and watch it thrive through everything that you do! “The Legacy Continues!”
