Today we’d like to introduce you to Hope Garcia.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Hope. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I had a dog with Arthritis and my vet knowing I was a human massage therapist recommended I massage Bear. I saw the difference right away. I started researching and a month later I was headed to Colorado for my first of many certifications. I came home, quit the spa and have never looked back. I have been very fortunate to be able to travel thru the country and take an array of classes.
In addition, because I also spent some time working with a canine rehabilitation vet I was also to take many classes in canine rehabilitation and canine acupuncture that others can not get into without a vet signing them up. I love going to peoples homes and helping their fur babies feel better. It has been an amazing journey of meeting people and working with vets, stores, dog walkers and meeting friends for life.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a very smooth road.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Dog Massage and Wellness – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Dog Massage and Wellness provides in-home massages for dogs. By going to peoples homes, dogs who have arthritis, post surgery, scared of the vet’s office do not have to go anywhere. They are most comfortable in their own environment and this allows me to get the most out of every session. Each massage is catered to the dog’s needs. Older dogs, injured dogs, agility or other sports.
I’m most proud of all the dogs I have been able to help. I have been doing this since 2007 and I have helped so many dogs, I have owners who have been using me for years and multiple dogs. I moved to NY for a few years and when I moved back, I had a line of dogs who I used to work on waiting for me again. Makes me feel great that three years gone people could not wait for me to come home.
I think what sets me apart is customer service. I am there for the owner and the dog and that is a top priority. I am also very concerned for others time. Everyone has a busy day and if we set an appointment for 1 I plan to get there no later than 1! Being considerate of others time is very important to me.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I went back to school for my masters in Acupuncture. I hope one day Florida allows Acupuncturist and not just vets to do acupuncture on dogs.
