Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Neiman.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Heather. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I knew I was an artist at age 10. In my 20’s and 30’s, I got to practice my art while working for Publix Supermarket. I would create large art works and signs for various displays and contests. I was asked to paint on a window in 1990 while still employed there and in 1994, I embarked on my still successful window painting business. My main focus is different holiday themes, with Christmas being my busiest season. These live painting jobs have provided me with the best advertising anyone could ask for-word of mouth! I have never advertised and I have had the opportunity to paint murals, furniture, photo album covers, ornaments and faces to name a few! During the last two years, I have been able to paint for myself. Don’t get me wrong – commission work pays the bills! I’m talking about listening to my inner voice and spirit to create work that is unique to me. When I sold my first painting, I was over the moon. What a confirmation that I was on the right path.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Has it been a smooth road… hmmm. I would like to meet anyone who hasn’t struggled along the way. I would say that my biggest struggle has been my thought process. I have three kids and while they were young, I would think I was wasting my art talent because I didn’t have enough energy to create more. Now, mind you, I had a 2 year old when I started painting windows and two more, 6 and 8 years later. My kids are my joy and I am much better at accepting myself just the way I am.
Heather Neiman Art – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My main art business is window painting. I paint specialized designs on windows of businesses and homes. I am known for listening to my clients ideas and bringing them to life. My designs are so full of colors and details that, once you know my art, you’ll be able to recognize it anywhere! I have people call or text me just to tell me how much they love my work. I also host paint parties and offer private lessons at my current studio TRAX Art Studios in Oakland Park. Painting with others makes me happy!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success with the satisfaction of my clients. Whether I’ve painted for them or hosted a party or private lesson, I love to know that I’ve exceed their expectations. I love that my work makes me smile and if I’m smiling, others will too. My energy can be felt in my murals, paintings and classes!
