Meet Eric Gould of Deja Vu Audio South in Wynwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Gould.

Eric, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We opened Deja Vu Audio South because Miami didn’t have a great resource solely dedicated to high end audio. We are dedicated to two things–great sound and helping fellow audio lovers find exactly what they need to bring this experience to their own spaces. This is the way exploring and learning about audio should be – by listening to it in person.

The response has been tremendous. Not just locally but with visitors and clients from around the world. We have established ourselves as one of the coolest high-end audio experiences anywhere.

While we set out to emulate some of the best audio stores in the world, in typical Miami fashion we ended up creating a truly unique experience unlike anything else we know about.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our only challenge was getting the word out to fellow audio lovers that we existed. We started the store in the Design District. We’ve now moved to an awesome larger space in Wynwood. Instead of being a typical retail establishment, we went a different route and decided to maintain a more private and intimate experience.

Visiting us is like visiting someone’s cool house. We take the time to get to know our clients – what they listen to and where they want to enjoy music. We help put together systems, pieces or accessories that fit individual needs. While we’re open Monday through Saturday, the best way to experience what we do is by private appointment.

Please tell us about Deja Vu Audio South.
We are Miami’s premier store for Hi-Fi stereo equipment. We carry a curated selection of equipment set up in a relaxing and unrushed atmosphere. We specialize in tube amps, high end turntables, custom speakers and the best audio brands made in the world.

We also want to be an accessible resource for people just getting into listening to music better and we also offer headphone systems and more budget conscious introductory systems that meet our rigorous demands.

Our custom rebuilt vintage gear made from Western Electric parts, many from the 1930s and 1940s, is likely the best custom Western Electric gear built in the world. We are using the very best parts ever made for audio.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Growing up in Miami and driving around with friends and listening to music.
