Meet Emi Melker of 101 Management

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emi Melker.

Emi is a native Floridian who always strives to be an entrepreneur, starting her first business as an elementary school student selling hand-made bows. Her drive for success at an early age led to her interests in both marketing and science. While studying Chemistry Education at the University of South Florida, she started an intern position at a creative agency in Tampa, FL. Emi quickly advanced to the top, becoming Chief Creative Officer in under 2 years.

After 7 years with the company, she decided to start her own agency, 101 Management Inc.

Emi has since been at the forefront of innovation in the Internet Marketing industry. Her experience is comprehensive; she is an expert in nearly every facet of business development on the internet. She is dedicated to producing high-quality work for her clients and enjoys the one-on-one connection she develops with them.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As with starting any company, there is a big learning curve. The hardest part for me has always been managing employees. Proper management of your team can make or break your company. It was important for me to always ask fellow entrepreneurs and mentors how they deal with certain situations when it comes to hiring, firing, or maintaining our team.

The other challenge was getting a proper system in place to protect us and our clients. There are always going to be people in the world who seem trustworthy, and are not. I would suggest always signing an agreement/contract to protect both sides and to outline what services you will be providing with an accurate timeline. You never know what a client expects, even if they say differently. If an agreement is signed, then you can always refer back to it and do what is right.

101 Management is a digital agency that optimizes a company’s web presence through consulting, strategy, design, development, management and marketing. This includes Search Engine Optimization, Social Media Management, Website Design and Online Advertising, our top provided services. We combine the right amount of each to build brands, boost traffic and increase revenue. We differ from competitors because we act with our client’s best interest in mind at all times, even if it means that we make less money. Also, we don’t rope our clients into long contracts. Instead, we work quickly to resolve any outstanding issues, so our clients see fast results and are satisfied with the work we do. This is why we are proud to say that 100% of our leads come to us as referrals from our existing clients.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My husband, Scott Melker, deserves a significant amount of credit for the success of our company. He has not only been a mentor and overall “go-to” guy for anything I need, but also as my biggest cheerleader. I can still recall my very first client pitch, when I was so nervous that I brought him along as my business partner. I trained him beforehand to say all the technical marketing terms. Turns out, I didn’t need him to speak at all, but just knowing he was there helped me secure our biggest client to date.
