Meet Dr. Diane M. Lazare of SpiritLed in Headquarters in Fort Lauderdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Diane M. Lazare.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
SpiritLed Inc. under the umbrella of Diane Lazare Ministries (DLM) was established in 2009 as a Women’s Empowerment Conference. Our purpose was to empower and equip women with hopes of improving their quality of life. SpiritLed grew speedily and soon included: a Women’s Tea that highlighted the accomplishments and service of local women and a Women’s Retreat held in Orlando, Florida that focuses on creating a safe space for emotional healing and healthy fellowship. In 2014, the Ladies Tea, Women’s Retreat and Women’s Conference (Ablaze) all became independent staple events under Spiritled. In 2013, SpiritLed added a community service component entitled “Butterfly Hands” that addresses our organizational cause. This component of Spiritled specifically targets women in distress through the implementation of service projects, training seminars, and events that assist in their evolution. Some of our service areas include halfway houses, rehabilitation centers, domestic violence centers, homeless shelters and the everyday women who need a little encouragement. As the overall focus for Spiritled is empowerment, we proudly host a multitude of events and activities throughout the year for all women. Madam’ Empire is our newest annual networking event focused on empowering and building the woman leader.

Has it been a smooth road?
I wouldn’t say exactly smooth, but not as difficult as some may think. However, one of our biggest challenges was in the establishment of local partnerships. We found other local organizations were not interested in sharing resources/information even if it was in the best interest of the population being served. We felt our collaboration on some projects would have a greater impact. After many attempts, in most cases, we experienced no response.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the SpiritLed story. Tell us more about it.
SpiritLed is a nonprofit organization focused on improving the quality of life for women.

We are known for empowering women to live their best lives. We are most proud of the transformation that occurs in the lives of women all over the world through our events and activities.

Not sure what specifically sets us apart from others. We intentionally use our real-life experiences to improve the life of another. Our intimacy and transparency create avenues that foster sisterhood and trust. We consider ourselves “space holders”, giving women the opportunity to resurge after experiencing life difficulties. We employ strategies for creating positive movement.

We always love to ask about the support network – have there been people, perhaps mentors or advisors, who have played a big role in your success?
Lots of people deserve some credit, but there are some who’ve gone the extra mile consistently. My husband of almost 32 years is my biggest supporter and motivator. He diligently works behind scenes, ensuring our successes. I am so blessed to have a mate who believes in me and my vision.

As the CEO of Spiritled, I have infused the motto “Destiny is a team effort”. With that, my team consists of 14 women that partner with me to coordinate and implement the variety of events sponsored by the organization. They are all volunteers who willingly give of their time to impact others.

In addition to my dynamic team, we have a host of volunteers from my church (The Light Center). I can’t imagine getting it all done without them. I am grateful.
