Meet Dominique Vercilien of NiqMinkLashes in Little Haiti

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Vercilien.

Dominique, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my lash line NiqMinkLashes on February 28th, 2019. I only had $200 that I decided to use and it was my last bit of money to invest in a lash business. At first, I was nervous because I feared that I may not have any support, but I didn’t let that stop me. I remember at the beginning I wouldn’t get any sales, I was promoting my lashes on all social media platforms. It didn’t matter to me if I had only one like share or comment because I had this driven ambitious mindset that someone is out there watching and they’ll support me eventually.

I always told myself not to only rely on social media to make sales so I decided to make business cards and I would walk around and pass out my business cards and keep all my lashes on me. By doing this, I made a connection with my potential buyers and made a few sales. Slowly but surely, I started to gain more clientele, but I didn’t stop there. I was motivated to continue to grow the lash line.

I offered free lash installations with purchases. Many of my clients don’t know how to install their lashes, so adding this service played a big factor in my lash business. I’ve also collaborated with other young entrepreneurs like myself and we did pop up shops where it helped expand my lash business and get new customers. Fast forward to February 27th, 2020, a day before my one year anniversary, I went viral on twitter for selling my “Lash Mat” which is a mini washer that can be used to wash your lashes. Prior to going viral, I was hesitant to post the video I’ve made of me putting my lashes in the washer because I had self-doubt of what people we’re going to say and think. I didn’t let that stop me and I decided to go for it and posted it on twitter where I caught people’s attention from across the globe. This is just the beginning for NiqMinkLashes & I am humbly blessed and happy that I’ve come this far.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’d say it’s been bumpy road rather smooth. I love to go by this quote “the road to success is always under construction.” I’ve had times where I felt like giving up because there were days I wasn’t making any sales at all. But somehow I still manage to keep pushing and keep promoting my business even if meant that I had to pay someone to promote my business I will do all that it takes to get my lash business to where it needs to be. Honestly, having hard times in my lash business is what motivated me to go even harder. I may have doubts from here and there but giving up is never an option for me.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with NiqMinkLashes – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am known for selling mink strip lashes and installing lashes for those who may not know how to install lashes themselves. Also selling my poplar product called “Lash mat.”What I’m most proud of as a company is that I impact others and motivate them to pursue their own lash line or whatever they may want to pursue. I get messages from people and they tell me “I inspire them” this what makes me proud seeing that I’m impacting others makes me very proud. What sets me apart from others is that I make connections with my current & new customers, they’re my lash dolls, My lash family, without them there wouldn’t be no “NiqMinkLashes” going that extra mile to see my lash dolls smiles and being myself is what makes me stand out and be apart from everyone else.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plan for the future is to grow my lash line. I plan on offering new services to help upcoming entrepreneurs with their businesses.
