Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Einhorn.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Art has always played a big role in my life. It was always my favorite class in school, and it just came easy to me. I grew up painting for myself, family and friends, but about four years ago, I decided to see if I could make a career out of it.
At that time, I dedicated almost every day to painting for about a month and then began applying to and getting accepted into art festivals and galleries. I was getting great feedback through social media as well. As a self-taught artist, I was amazed that people were interested in buying my work.
Since then, I’ve been hired by major companies to do commissioned paintings, and have worked with big events where I paint live during them. I’ve partnered with Cirque Du Soleil, Art Basel, Pitbull’s New Year’s Eve concert, Best Buy, Allergan, Sunfest, J.Crew, The Special Olympics, SwimWeek, The Miami Heat, The Miami FC, Baptist Children’s Hospital, and more.
These days, my work can be seen all over South Florida- on storefronts, parking meters, beer cans, Miami Dade county buses, hospitals, schools, etc. Things quickly took off for me, and I feel very fortunate for that! I look forward to adding more color to the world!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been exceptionally smooth. I wouldn’t say there’s been any struggles, but I will say the whole thing has been a learning experience. From learning to be a businesswoman and reviewing contracts… to promoting my business… to learning how to set up my booth at an art festival… to overcoming my fear of heights in order to paint murals, etc. I created this business alone, so there’s no one above me to go ask any questions to. I’m constantly figuring things out as I go.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I get commissioned to create custom paintings; people either see my work at art festivals, galleries, and/or social media and will contact me for their own piece. I am best known for my live paintings, where I create a painting start to finish, for a live crowd.
Overall, I’m proud of how far I’ve come in these past 4 years. Not just of the work I’ve created, but also the amazing connections I’ve made and people I’ve worked with.
My drive and determination set me apart from others- currently, art is my life!
What were you like growing up?
Being the youngest sibling, I think I felt the need to be heard and stand out. I was pretty loud and outgoing. I would probably be described as an entertaining kid.
My biggest interests/hobbies were painting and dancing. I took dance classes 3-4 days a week for many years, somehow I can’t dance for the life of me today!
