Today we’d like to introduce you to Cori Roberson.
Cori, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
First, I want to thank you and your team for giving me this opportunity. My business first started with me wanting to make my own income instead of having to wait on others. I wanted to make sure I specialized in something I liked. So, I was passionate about my craft. I believe I apply myself more when my heart is really in it. With this, I started my first business, “Co Jewels_” selling adjustable charm bracelets. I then elevated my business and branched off into other things.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would say it’s been like a rollercoaster. It has its ups, it has its downs. Some of the struggles come from customer service. As in customers who don’t respect your rules, are rude, give an extremely hard time, etc. Some of these experiences tear me down sometimes or make me question continuing within my business. Also, being a high school student trying to maintain college classes, dual enrollment, cheerleading, along with four businesses. It can be pretty frustrating. But I have twice as many smooth moments! Many of my customers are extremely understanding, respectful of how they speak to me and make the process of preparing orders very simple. Overall, I’m grateful for all my experiences. Without my customers, I wouldn’t be where I am now!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I run two main businesses. Being “SixTwentyEightt”, where I specialize in luxury purses, and “CoJewels”, where I specialize in jewelry, headbands, etc. I also have two other businesses, which I use as little side hustles. I specialize in editorial logos and selling vendors to entrepreneurs. I’m most proud of the fact that I’m just 17, with all this going for myself. I feel I’m doing amazing. I’m extremely passionate about my crafts and I make sure to give that out to my buyers. I feel what sets me apart from others is my age as well. I’m so young, with so many incomes of money. I’m a dual enrollment high school senior with honors.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was outgoing yet shy. I was interested in dancing and drawing. I loved to dance! But I was very quiet and to myself in away. I was very smart and mature from a young age. I always hung around people older than me, being my older cousins or older friends. Everywhere I go, I was the baby of the group.
