Meet Christina Jones of What Love Isn’t in Miami Gardens and Pembroke Pines

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Jones.

Christina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After being a single woman in this modern era of dating, I experienced first-hand what it means to love and have love loss. After overcoming my own obstacles with learning “What Love Is” through growth and maturity, I decided to share this journey with others while continuing to learn from their happiness and heartache. I created this platform because I noticed there was a need for men and women alike to express themselves, hear and be heard. My goal and mission is to get us back to love and finding the best route for each person. I’m by no means fully there or have it all figured out; this venture has allowed me to continue the pursuit of my own happiness.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, not at all to say the least. During the journey and process of creating this brand, I had to overcome hurt and pain from my personal relationship. I went through the same trials and tribulations as many, and some things that others can’t begin to imagine. I knew through my grief I would be used to help heal someone else so I kept going. There was ridicule and things are done to attempt to destroy the brand I’m creating but I never let it stop or defeat me. I had to face those challenges head-on because the ultimate goal of this is far greater than anything set out to destroy it.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about What Love Isn’t – what should we know?
What Love Isn’t takes a journey through the “ugly truths” and not so pleasant conversations about love/relationships. We discuss various topics and issues in the world of love as we know it today. Our events are diverse, with different relationship statuses and preferences. There is no topic we don’t touch, no point of view we don’t look at, making sure no one leaves confused or unsatisfied with what’s discovered. We create a relaxed and joyful environment, welcoming all. We enjoy having adult conversations and always promise to keep our feelings aside.

The ultimate goal is to make the joy of love return one relationship at a time. It’s more than just a podcast or table talk, we create an atmosphere that’s welcoming and relaxing to make people feel comfortable with sharing. It’s more than just sitting around talking, we also play games and food and drinks are also provided. The moment I’m most proud of is when guests express their appreciation and gratitude after attending the events. That moment of knowing this simple discussion in a judgment-free zone just change someone’s outlook on love and life is priceless.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have such a big support system that I have to give credit to for supporting this journey. All of my life experiences (myself and friends included), from each relationship, good and bad was the fuel for this fire. It’s because of them that my passion for this started. My friends who are also the vendors that provide everything needed for each event, deserve the most credit. Erna Michel of Everlasting Joy Events and Designs for all of the décor, Shayla Parks of Shays Fit Fuel for being my event coordinator, Diondra Jackson of Dazzling Apparels for all of the custom items and assisting with event coordinating, and of course my biggest cheerleaders and mentors Trabarius Cornish, Tamika McCall, Indirha Derose and Cindy Fenelus. Without each of them, What Love Isn’t wouldn’t be where it is today.
