Today we’d like to introduce you to Chaute Thompson.
Chaute, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve dreamed of owning a private practice since 10th grade and I’ve been working towards this goal. After graduating, getting married and having my first child I started the journey. By the time I was doing my internship, I was having hardship in my relationship, which eventually led to a divorce. Once I became licensed, I stepped out on faith and opened my practice. Going through this experience gave me the motivation to specialize in working with families of separation and divorce helping them to strengthen the family unit. I do this as a licensed mental health counselor, Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator, Qualified Parenting Coordinator, Contractor for schools, and DCF approved provider for parenting classes.
I have two office locations Stuart, Florida my primary location and Vero Beach, Florida.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The process was difficult, I was recently divorced, changing careers, navigating the ins and outs of new business while raising young children. I hired business coaches, I was blessed with a business bestie, and I joined organizations and received mentors to grow into the practice and consulting firm that we have now. God truly takes care of His children! He opened the doors He wanted me to walk through and He closed the doors that were not for me.
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I specialize in working with individuals and families of divorce and significant breakups. As a licensed mental health counselor I provide counseling to individuals and families working through depression, anxiety, anger management, behavior modification, effectively co-parenting, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills and conflict resolution to transition smoothly. As a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator, I facilitate family mediations for families who have decided divorce is the best option for their family. I do this by being a neutral party facilitating the discussion and negotiations for decisions the husband and wife must make for their family moving forward. I scribe the agreement for the parties to file with the court, which affords them an opportunity to be empowered to make decisions and save litigations costs. As a qualified parenting coordinator, I provide conflictual families guidance and psycho-education helping them to make difficult decisions in the best interest of their children. As a contractor, my practice goes into schools providing counseling helping students with conflict resolution, trauma, grief, anxiety and anger management as well as mental health issues. We also provide classroom collaborations, social skills groups, and training for staff. As a DCF approved parenting provider we provide court approved parenting classes for parents who are getting divorced.
While helping families, I saw the need to help women on their journey after divorce or significant breakups to rediscover and redefine themselves so Brand New Me, LLC was born! Through Brand New Me, I provide coaching, consulting, courses, webinars and retreats helping women to grow into a new version of themselves.
I am the visionary author for Brand New Me: The Pursuit of Wholeness a book helping women know they are not alone on the journey through infidelity, abuse, internal and external struggles, feelings of unworthiness, guilt and shame to helping them to grow with self-acceptance, wholehearted living and lessons learned. This book is a best-seller and was placed on the list of best books for divorced women! In addition, Brand New Me: Complemented, Complete and Whole Your Unique Guide for Singles and Couples to Grow from Within is coming July 2019!
I look forward to traveling more and providing seminars and workshops for churches, conferences, and retreats speaking about restoring relationship with self, being complemented in a romantic relationship, healing after the trauma of a breakup and building healthy relationships based on my book, education, and experiences!
What have been some of the most important lessons you’ve learned over the course of your career?
I’ve learned that there’s a message in my story and experiences that can help and inspire others so it’s important to live by Eleanor Roosevelt quote “Do one thing everyday that scares you”. Over the course of my career that has been a challenge, a journey but the more I step out the more people I am able to help others! I love what I do and I love who I work with!
As I grow in business, I am learning more and more about automation and building systems which has your business work for you, I am grateful that I am learning this now.
