Meet Cecilia Marti, Kristi Lÿnx, Ally B, and Max Ross of Vagnauts in Miami Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cecilia Marti, Kristi Lÿnx, Ally B, and Max Ross of Vagnauts.

Cece and Kristi came up with the idea of Vagnauts at an intimate open mic. Cece had previously written poems about life experiences that collaborated into songs. In their search for a drummer, Ally fit in like a glove. She helped evolve the songs further. Max came into play after the former guitarist left the band for personal reasons, completing the band as the Vagnauts you know today. We all have different tastes in music which has made Vagnauts’ music a genre-melting pot riding on influences such as surf rock’s Dick Dale, and 90’s ska queen Gwen Stefani. Between member’s connections to the local music scene, Vagnauts has a wide-open door to playing shows in South Florida.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We had a rapid start and a short set back with the loss of our former guitar player and having to reteach the songs to someone new. Other than that, with Max being our new guitar player, playing local shows has been smooth sailing.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Vagnauts story. Tell us more about your band.
Vagnauts is an Indie band, but none of the band members can pinpoint what they sound like exactly. Their music and lyrics focus on a variety of love songs, heartbreak, and even some anger stemming from women’s issues. We’re probably known for our bold name and our unique sound that’s not quite what other bands are doing locally as far as South Florida goes. You go to other Florida cities and you’ll find shoegaze, surf-like sounds, whereas we feel like South Florida focuses more on the punk rock scene. We’re proud of how many songs we’ve been able to seamlessly collaborate on together and also the following we’ve amassed in the year we’ve been a band. We’re set apart from the South Florida scene because of our unique sound compared to other locals. Also, the fact that our lyrics are genuine and about actual life experiences sets us apart.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck has brought us aboard the abode of national touring acts that we’ve previously played with or are currently scheduled to perform alongside. It isn’t every day you’re recognized as an opener for such acts and we’re always thrilled when asked to play a show with them.
