Today we’d like to introduce you to Carol Engelson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Carol. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born to create. Ever since I was a little girl, I have always been attracted to vibrant jewels and gemstones, fabrics and color. My mother taught me that if I learned how to work with my hands, I would never be bored. And so, it began! Sewing was my first foray into the world of design, later capturing a fashion design degree at FIDM in Los Angeles. Having a design teaching studio, I learned to constantly challenge my creative self with many different mediums all the while encouraging my students to try new ideas!
Making jewelry is something I am passionate about because I love turning healing gemstones and beads into one of a kind pieces and envisioning the women who will wear them.
I find inspiration and materials everywhere, including travels across the world to places like Morocco, my grandfather’s collection of beads, or antique markets and art fairs wherever I see something that strikes a fancy. Each piece is unique and made to inspire individuality, beauty and a little bit of whimsy every time you put one on.
If you have an idea in mind, please feel free to reach out – I love creating custom pieces and bringing your vision to life.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The journey of my artistic growth is collectively rewarding. Having tried many different mediums along the way including working with Stained Glass, working with beading and sewing all become the fiber of my creative being. I look forward to being constantly inspired by all my surroundings.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am an artist that has chosen to work with healing gemstones to create beautiful one of a kind jewelry pieces that will promote a good sense of being by the wearer. I create colorful pieces that can be worn each and every day. The colors I choose, the combinations I gather to create a piece is meant to be enjoyed and celebrated.
When you look back, what are you most proud of?
When I sold a piece of jewelry through Instagram recently. When they said, “I want that!” That it can happen to me! That someone loved what I created enough to make a purchase!
