Today we’d like to introduce you to Cami Leavitt.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I worked in the fashion industry for several years, including my work at a couture house in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2011, I was invited to 16 weddings in one year, with my past experience & education I decided to design my own dresses for each wedding. A year later in 2012, I founded Camilyn Beth. Now, we currently sell to about 50 boutiques across the US, to Anthropologies new rental website Nuuly, to the department store Von Maur as well as our own online website. We have our local Sarasota studio where I design & make each new design before we send them to NY for manufacturing.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have been for seven years now & year provides a new challenge & opportunity for growth. I am a firm believer that you either win or you learn, you never lose. One of the most challenging years was year three of business & we were growing rapidly & experiencing manufacturing difficulties. That year, I learned a lot about the industry, myself as a leader & scaling a growing business.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
Camilyn Beth is a contemporary women’s wear collection that specializes in classic designs with a retro-modern twist. The collection is primarily inspired by past eras of fashion. Camilyn Beth at its core is all designs that are made to be worn to weddings but are now so much more because it’s classic stature. Each design is made with quality materials & American craftsmanship. I believe in sustainable fashion & that my designs can be worn multiple times for special events in life.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Putting on concerts with my sister, cousins & preforming at family parties!
