Meet Cameron Dieudonne, Robertson Dieudonne of FlavorKings in Carol City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Dieudonne, Robertson Dieudonne.

Cameron, Robertson, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The passion for cooking came at a very young age I (Cameron) started cooking at the age of 6 and Robertson has managed and worked at many restaurants around the US. In 2011 I moved to Orlando and found a goldmine in the university. I remember our mother selling plates from the house in Carol City, every week and thought why don’t I start something like that. A lot of trial and error, but eventually we found a formula that worked. In late 2016 we came up with the name FlavorKings. With no direction we were just trying to feed everyone from Miami to central Florida. There were major bumps in the road. My brother and I both quit or jobs and we’re on the verge of becoming homeless. With hard work and a specific lane we were able to make FlavorKings flourish. We did everything in our power to not have to work for the corporate world anymore. 2017 was an amazing year with the rise of FlavorKings. The lack of financial responsibility started to catch up with us. Early 2018 we put a pause on the business . We both decided to go back to the corporate world. Mentally drained at this point we thought it was the only thing to do. Battling diagnosed anxiety and depression for the whole year put life in perspective for us. Why not give it all we got at least one more time? By the end of 2018 we came up with a whole revamp game plan for the business. With the help of Michelle and extreme focus also dedication we thought of Meal Preparation. Meal prep is something everyone needs, but can’t afford. Our plan was to not only make it affordable, but also delicious and nutritious. Look at us 9 months later, flourishing with the grace of God, consistency, and hard work. Nothing can stop us now. FlavorKings is now servicing from south Florida to central and west Florida. We also started a partnership with the Bahamas and will be moving into a physical location by the end of 2019.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road ahead was anything but smooth. Robertson worked his way up the restaurant food chain opening many restaurants for other companies. He always felt like something was missing. He wanted his own. Many attempts at different business, but nothing prevailed. Decisions became tougher, providing for his family also became a struggle. For Cameron finding his way as an adult was difficult, at the age of 18 I moved to Orlando from Miami to attend college. Trying to have a healthy college life, paying bills and just having fun was hard for an 18 year. At the age of 21 I had to drop out of school, my brother eventually moved up here and had to live with me for a while. With no financial backing or support all we had were each other. Mental illness got the best of me and it held me back for a while. My brother and I both dealt with almost being homeless, car repossessions, starving nights etc.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with FlavorKings – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
FlavorKings specializes in Catering, selling hot plates, and meal prep! Our most popular project is our meal prep. We have meal prep for any lifestyle. Wether you’re a gym goer or don’t have time to cook we have a diet to fit your needs. We also have catered parties, weddings, events etc. We started off selling hot plates for $10 to college students, that’s what got our name out there. We’re known for our Mac&Cheese, it’s called around the city CrackMac! What sets us apart in our meal prep, getting affordable meal prep that actually taste delicious is hard to come by. We’re most proud of our progress, from where we started to where we’re going.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love how Miami sets the tone for the rest of Florida. Miami has its own style, lingo, way of life. Can’t be compared to anywhere else. What we dislike about Miami is the keeping of with the Jones mindset. It’s difficult to run a business if it’s not popular or similar to what’s popular.
