Meet Brittny Ortiz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittny Ortiz.

Brittny, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
“Once you stop dreaming, you start dying.”

These are the only words that have accurately described my reality several years ago.

I felt insignificant on the deepest level you could imagine. I hid myself from the world. I dreaded talking to others. I was scared of connecting.

If you would have told me that I would find a concrete way out of melancholy and find the courage to put all of my passions together to create a business that serves entrepreneurs and creatives, I would have cried at the thought of being so far from something that beautiful.

I was born in Boston, MA, but relocated to South Florida when I was about five years old. Growing up, I spent all of my time creating anything I could get my hands on. Drawing, painting, writing stories, creating sculptures out of clay, creating storyboards and skits–you name it.

There is absolute magic and beauty in creating, but I never realized that I spent a lot of my time creating because it was truly the only way I knew how to express myself best. It was more about having a voice. If my heart was broken, I could show you exactly how shattered it felt.

As I grew older and experienced the hardships of becoming an adult a lot sooner than anticipated–creating videos, writing poetry, painting, and taking photos gave me this sense of comfort, belonging, and accomplishment. My skills developed profoundly during this time, even though it was all for self-expression and comfort. Selected out of 3,500 applicants, I was one of the 99 creative recipients who received an award for my photography, videography, and artwork. I also worked on set with an award-winning director as 1st AC for feature films, music videos, and commercials.

There was only one problem.

Outside of work, I began to realize that every time I used my passions as a personal outlet, the art I was sharing was quite negative! It reflected a deep part of myself that I couldn’t figure out how to heal from. I began to realize it was not fair to others to share such negativity when we all really just need something to make us smile instead. I also began to realize that I was holding myself back from so much in life just by unknowingly holding onto despair.

My life has completely transformed since then. It took a lot of self-reflection, perseverance, strength, daily forgiveness, and accepting God into my heart. I learned that when we hold ourselves back, it is a disservice to others.

Now as a photographer, videographer, editor, director, graphic designer, and overall content creator, my purpose for creating has transitioned from giving myself a voice to helping others share their voice in unique ways and helping others bring their ideas to life with everything I have learned throughout my journey.

Has it been a smooth road?
This will be my first time opening up about my journey as a creative, but some parts of the road were really rough.

Some of the struggles I dealt with included toxic environments, emotional abuse, and a severe lack of faith.

However, I never let any of those struggles stop me.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I help business owners save time on creating consistent, quality content for their personal branding by combining gorgeous visuals with a bit of marketing!

For photography, I specialize in lifestyle sessions, adventurous engagement sessions, and personal branding sessions, but I also help clients with the design aspect of their business.

This includes helping business owners create a story based on their personal brand and revamping their social media platforms with Facebook Banners and Instagram Story Highlights to name a few!

For videography, I specialize in filming events, filming behind the scenes footage, music videos, and editing EPIC highlights! I also film and edit all of my videos on YouTube at the moment.

My goal for every person I meet and collaborate with is to truly understand how they want to inspire their community and help them do that the best way I know how to–through impactful storytelling, meaningful visuals, connection, and the power of creation.
