Meet Barbara Outerino of Fortuna Events Miami in Kendall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Barbara Outerino.

Barbara, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
With over 20 years of experience in Event Planning, Promotions, Branding & Marketing, I am the go to person for all of our event planning services, promotions, marketing and travel needs here at Fortuna Events.

I started with a family event and realized that planning and designing events was definitely my calling. I loved every minute of it and I knew it was something I truly wanted to do. Although I just did this for family and friends over the years it grew more and more, so I obtained my Certified Wedding Planners “CWP” certificate through the Association of Bridal Consultants and Fortuna Events Miami came to be. A few years later I also incorporated travel into my business where I could offer my couples travel as well. I am a certified travel agent, a cruise specialist with Royal Caribbean and work with all cruise lines nationwide and all-inclusive hotels. So I not only plan weddings but I also help plan honeymoons, whether it be in town, out of town or international travel at Wanderlust Dreams Travel our travel agency, we are able to help our couples with all of their travel needs.

I treat all of my clients as if they were family. I think one of the things that most couples would say about me is that I give so much of myself when I’m planning their wedding. I go above and beyond the scope of work. I help with the extra little things that sometimes they leave till the end and I finish up whatever needs to be done for them. My goal is to relieve them from stress, so they can truly enjoy the experience.

I strive to create the most unforgettable events for my clients and truly bring their visions to life. I deliver top notch service and have created a top-notch team to cater to all of my client’s needs. I truly create amazing events that run flawlessly so my couples can enjoy their day to the fullest.

Like they say “If you work at what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life” and I don’t. “I love what I do and love to help others this is why it’s not work for me, it’s my passion.”

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Things are never easy. I think this business like all businesses has its ups and downs, but if you’re passionate about what you do, you never give up. Things may get slow at times but persistence is key in this line of work.

I think the struggles I’ve seen along the way have been non-certified planners meaning aunts, cousins, etc. stepping into the role of a wedding planner so that couples do not have to spend the extra funds on a professional. Unfortunately, this does not always work out well. Usually the day of the event, the family members are nowhere to be found. Which is why I tell my couples, that having a qualified certified wedding professional is one of the best investments you can make for your special day. After all you are spending a great deal of money to have a wonderful wedding why would you want it to all come crashing down on the day that it shouldn’t.

As most wedding planners know, there are always unexpected happenings on the day of the wedding and/or events. But if you have a qualified person running your day, you will never know because we mask and take care of the situations before anyone can notice. So the couple can truly enjoy their day.

We specialize and are known for our wedding planning services. I am most proud of my recent aware of being named one of the “Top 20 Planners in Miami, FL” by

I believe that what sets me apart from others is that this is truly not a job for me it’s my passion, it’s what I love to do. So I do it very well. I think I’m also known as one of the few wedding professionals that gives couples a lot of perks when they hire me. I tend to throw in a lot of my own props as an incentive when a couple hires me which is attractive to them, because it’s a savings for them and I’m not a rental company so I love to throw that in as a treat. I have tons of props. LOL.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have started off working at this full-time versus part-time. I would have loved to have opened up a small boutique with store front access in a great neighborhood where I could have also offered bridal dresses for rent. There seems to be such a need for dresses for rent for brides that truly cannot afford to buy expensive gowns. I would have loved to have done this.
