Meet Ashley Raicovich of ILEENgirl Boutique in West Palm Beach and Abacoa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Raicovich.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in Seoul, South Korea, so it was only four years ago that I moved to the states and opened my first ILEENgirl Boutique in Jupiter. I have been on the cutting edge of fashion for nearly 15 years. I started out in 2006 with two retail shops in Seoul.

Soon after, I began to sell my designs to retailers throughout the world with my wholesale manufacturing label. So I was going back and forth from Seoul to China. My husband Joe is a native South Floridian, so after we had our daughter Olivia, we decided to move to Jupiter. I had never been to the United States before, so opening my shop first in Jupiter and then in West Palm Beach this past month has been a journey filled with new experiences.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Coming to a country so different from my own comes with many challenges. Language, figuring out the cultural differences and adjusting to a new retail environment. It is a slower pace in Florida. I go to charity events here, trunk shows, and events that we did not do in South Korea. I still feel nervous about contacting people because of the language barrier, but it has all been a wonderful learning experience along the way. It has helped me grow in my life and in my business.

ILEENgirl Boutique – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I design the clothing and my mother manufactures it at our warehouse in China. My designs are loose, flowing, and one-size-fits-all. Majority of my pieces are designed to fit any body shape. Some women can wear my tunics as dresses, while a taller woman can wear them with jeans or leggings. My designs are versatile and something you will keep wearing year round. Simple, breezy clothing items in neutral colors are always beautiful. These are clothing pieces you can keep in your wardrobe for years to come.

Minimalistic is the word I would use to describe my designs. Also, comfortable. Women can look both chic, confident, and sophisticated while incredibly comfortable; there is no sacrifice of style for the sake of comfort.

What sets me apart is the unique shapes and styles of my clothing. You will find lots of pockets, fun hemlines, and asymmetrical details, all in neutral colors. I also appreciate my customers and enjoy collaborating with local businesses and fashion bloggers.

I am proud of my business and what I have accomplished. Because it’s mine. I can look at it and say “I did it!” I feel proud to see my name in my designs. When I get feedback and see how much customers love my designs, that makes me proud.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My goal is to be comfortable and enjoy life. I want to support my family and help inspire my daughter. So success is to just feel happy while working, enjoying what I do when helping customers and making clothing. To me, that means that I am successful with work and my life.
