Today we’d like to introduce you to Arbeilla McCray.
Arbeilla, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up, I fought with low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety. In that place of wanting to be liked by everyone and not knowing my worth caused me to live a toxic life. When I finally give my life to Christ, I found purpose. I told myself that I will no longer live my life in fear and I will walk in the life God designed just for me. So, God placed a book in my heart and I wrote it and name it “Singleness In Style”, from there, it became a ministry. Also, He gives me a purpose in fashion, speaking, and being creative. So, I started branding myself and telling my story of being diagnosed with PCOS and psoriasis, which has completely changed my life. I use SIS to motivate and inspire women to build a strong relationship in Christ, self, and sisterhood and I use the Arbeilla McCray to show others who are going through what I am going through or similar, to still let your light shine and never give up.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course not! Every day is a battle dealing with my health issues. It literally a fight between my spirit and flesh. But, besides my health issue running a ministry and business can be quite stressful. I am self-taught and learn from trial and error. Which can be wasteful in money, time and effort. Just the other day, I purchased a domain for the Arbeilla McCray but wrote my maiden name, Wilson and that cost me money I can’t get back. I have stories for days for all the mistakes I have made, however, I use every mistake as a learning tool.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Singleness In Style – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Singleness In Style is a Ministry to help women build a strong foundation in Christ, Self and Sisterhood. I have been operating SIS for over 3three years now and what makes me most proud of this ministry is the woman we have impacted. I literally just received an inbox about how SIS has helped them through a rough patch in their life.
The Arbeilla McCray brand is a way for me to showcase my flaws and my talent. Letting people know that we all are beautifully flawed. Also, to inspire people to find their God-given purpose in the world and don’t let anything or no one hold you back.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In the near future SIS and one of her sister ministries, Dusting Her will be hosting a 2-day conference called Runway Launch. Runway Launch is focused on helping women using the world as their runway. It’s going to be in 2020 and we will be having dynamic speakers, a high fashion ball, vendor and so much more. Nevertheless, SIS will also be working on monthly SIS Secrets that will be starting back in spring 2020. We are also looking for women who would like to be about the visionary board.
As far as the Arbeilla McCray brand, I will be working on content for all my social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube). And putting in the work to build a support system (followers).
I hope to be traveling for speaking events and brand opportunities as well.
