Meet Anthony Scime of Mint Art Haus in Fort Lauderdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Scime.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a designer and digital painter represented by RMG exhibitor and Spectrum Miami sponsor Artblend. I’ve been creating art all my life, even before I truly understood what it was. Designing and being creative has completely woven itself into almost every aspect of my life, to a near dangerous level, I wouldn’t want it any other way.

I was born in Buffalo, New York, but lived in South Florida for most of my life. I grew up surrounded by the art culture. My grandfather was a muralist in Buffalo, I was drawing and creating since I could hod something in my hand that allowed me to do so. I attended an arts magnet highschool. I graduated from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in 2008 with a BS in Illustration and design. After that, I worked with various design and advertising companies doing both illustration and graphic design. At the same time, I started to develop my passion for art with digital artwork. My online artwork portfolio is here www.art-ams.com. Through an artist gallery that I worked for, artblend, I was able to get my foot in the door of the art world. Since then, I have shown and sold at multiple shows nationwide. Including Spectrum Miami, ArtExpo New York, ArtHamptons, various shows at Wynwood and even having work represented at the main convention center of Art Basel itself.

After a few years of working as a designer and illustrator for various companies in south Florida, I decided to start my own “image making company” a design agency in 2015 called fold co., www.foldco.agency.

After that, a great opportunity came for me to use my knowledge I gained through working in design and advertising, along with my experience in the art world, to create Mint Art Haus. Offering fresh perspectives and insight into the worlds of artists, designers and creative individuals, Mint Art Haus aims to connect modern genres like digital painting, graffiti, street art, modern art, installation art, and illustration, to the context of broader and more historically recognized genres of art like pop, assemblage, old master painting and conceptual art.

At its core, the platform of Mint Art Haus is the future of marketing for artists. An “artist project” that connects up and coming and established artists to buyers, designers and industry professionals by collaborating with some of the world’s most important art events, through the release and distribution of a biannual publication and with the online presence of our digital gallery.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not the smoothest road. I graduated in Fall of 2008 and well, the economy was not doing the best. I went through a lot of companies that hied me only to unfortunately go out of business not long after. But with this, it “forced” me to become and independent contractor, a freelancer designer and to inevitable start my own company which lead me to where I am today.

We’d love to hear more about your business.

To me, what sets Mint Art Haus apart from other artist representation companies is the format of our marketing and the connections in the industry that we have. We also design our company, the “look”, to be in line with the most current trends. It’s the perfect backdrop for an artists work. What this does is present artists work in a contemporary and modern format to an equally contemporary and modern audience, industry and buyers. We are just in the beginning of what Mint Art Haus can do.

What were you like growing up?
I had a lot of interests growing up but the main focus was art and science. Very young, I would go back and forth with wanting to have a carrier in the arts or in the sciences. So, I was always very curious, wanting to learn more about the subjects I enjoyed.

I usually like to make my friends laugh which would get me into a bit of trouble when I was young, but not much.
