Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Noriega.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Years ago when I was still working in the corporate world, my mother told me that one day I would end up running my own company. I laughed at her words and told her I would never give up a weekly paycheck and stability for a hustle. I am a true believe that you bring your own luck and whatever hard work and desires you put out into the universe you will pull out. I moved through the ranks very quickly and had the opportunity to work at hotels such as Fisher Island and be the master mind behind the opening of what was sure to be the first luxury hotel on Ocean Drive. Delays in construction and poor ownership had other plans for me and I quickly realized that what I wanted to offer to my clients and the event industry didn’t exist and simply couldn’t be contained to an office job working 9-5pm. I decided to take a chance and risk going on my own to represent my clients and everything I knew I had to offer. Brilliantly, Alorè was born.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I had dreams of being a doctor and had a scholarship to become a Neuroscientist at the University of Miami. I had the opportunity to travel the world through modeling and cheering as a professional NFL cheerleader for the Miami Dolphins, and I feel in love with the event world. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be happy. Happiness to me meant working hard in a job that brought me pleasure and gave me an opportunity to do all the things that I thrive in and inspire others. My second year of college I had an internship at the morgue, it was then and there sitting in that parking lot of what was supposed to be my first day that I realized I just won’t be happy if I continued down this path. I rushed back to my admissions office and made a harsh change to pursue more of a dynamic path and decided to major in psychology. With so many already accumulated credits I ended up having two majors and two minors, but hey I always say learn everything you can because you never know when you’ll need it! I began working for luxury hotels and when I decided to go on my own I had only about $1,000 in savings and a heart full of dreams with determination to succeed. First working from home to then hiring my first intern who became my soldier first employee, nothing has been predicted other than the desire to not fail.
In today’s event world, you are only as great as your last production. Trends change every day and my goal has always been to set them. So, for me the hardest challenge comes in crafting up what the next big thing will be. Designing a unique way to display ordinary objects and transcend styles from one event to the next without being repetitive is key. I don’t have time to have a “designers block” so my mind is always brewing.
Today, I can wholehearted say that while no job has constant highs, I love what I do. I love my staff and I love being able to use everything I learned on a daily basis to make our clients visions and dreams come true.
