Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Munguia.
Anna, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am formally a broadcast/journalism major, graduated from the University of Miami in December of 2002. However, in 2001, my passion for Wedding & Event Planning grew… I was given the honor to not only be my sister’s Maid of Honor but also to help her plan her wedding. At first, I had no clue what I was doing much less if I was doing it right. I felt the need to assist my sister because I thought those were the duties of a Maid of Honor. It was tough because my sister and I disagreed on a lot of different things for her wedding, and what I thought looked beautiful and nice, she didn’t. For example, I wanted her to go the rustic look, using gold, ivories and hunter green. My sister, on the other hand, went the total opposite, using whites and silvers and her wedding was very modern and classy, not at all rustic. =(
She married on 02-02-02 and from that point forward, my true passion for the Wedding & Event industry grew.
I finished the University of Miami later that year, and started doing weddings and events for free! In 2005, I started working for Humana healthcare as an Event Manager for their local offices and planned and designed their corporate parties. From there, I went to work for a Wedding company for about two years, and in 2008, I started working for the InterContinental Hotel in Doral, FL- where I got hired to be the Social Catering Manager. It was there that I learned and truly blossomed to who I am today! I learned so much from that hotel, from picking the right size tables to choosing the right linens, setting up guest tables the proper way, building BEOs (banquet event order) and so much more. In 2011, I said farewell to the Hotel Industry, because I had my firstborn, daughter in June of 2011. I really thought I was going to stay with her that first year and then perhaps go back into the Hotel industry, BUT God had other plans! July 2011, I opened up Pristine Events of South Florida and the rest is history! So, although I truly thought that working for a news channel was my calling and passion, after doing my sister’s wedding, I felt those butterflies in my stomach and I knew that being a Wedding & Events Planner was my TRUE passion!
I am also proud of how far my company has become. We just turned eight years in service, and 4 of those 8 years, we have also been hosting and directing- our annual- Eat, Drink & Be Married Bridal Expo. I wear many hats, as you can see, however, my #1 hat, is that I am also a Homeschool mommy of 2 bright and beautiful girls. It hasn’t been easy to be a business owner, wife, mother, daughter, sister, etc. BUT, as those who knows me BEST would say, GOD first and He is the only one that gives me the strength and energy that I need to become the BEST version of myself daily!
Lastly, we are also proud to say, for the 3rd year in a row, we are the couples choice award through Wedding Wire and we are truly humbled by that!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not at all! After my first year as a business owner and having a 1-year-old, to then quickly becoming pregnant with my 2nd (back to back)- WOW! I thought, for sure, I wouldn’t last in this industry… because of all I would tell myself, MOM first or BOSS lady first? If it weren’t for my faith in GOD and my strong support system which is my husband and family, I probably wouldn’t be doing this today.
There have been years that I said, wow, I only made this much and it seemed more like a hobby, then an actual business… but then, there have been years, that have surpassed the previous years. I truly feel like it’s been one heck of a roller coaster ride to be quite honest, but, I just remind myself to put on my seat belt AND hang on for the ride (bumpy and all).
I would say my struggles haven’t been many, I would say pressure and A LOT of stress. Imagine, I am not only representing my company but, also my vendors! They represent me too, but, when all is said and done, if something goes wrong at an event, the clients will run to me and not their vendors. I always tell my team, we are the Captain of our ship and we have many co-captains and stewards, BUT, ultimately, at the end of the day, it is our duty and responsibility to be nothing but, PRISTINE in all that we do!
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am the founder of Pristine Events of South Florida which was established in July of 2011, just a short month after my firstborn. We are an events and wedding company that specializes in all types of events. I would say that over 80% of our business is weddings, however, I have noticed that each year, it’s different. Some years, we do smaller events like birthday parties, baby showers, baptisms, and house parties… to other years, we do a lot of big corporate parties of 250+ guests! However, I would say, we are mostly known for our unique and creative Weddings, no wedding is the same and We absolutely LOVE that!
We offer: full planning, partial planning and month of planning.
Some of the things we are very proud of is our close relationship with FIU- school of hospitality, where we have been working very closely with them and their internship programs. We have participated in their annual Career Fair for hospitality students and have worked with quite a few students who are interested in events. So, we are very happy to support them and their students in becoming future planners and we truly mentor all our interns and show them the ins and outs of what it truly takes to plan PRISTINE event!
Another proud moment, was when we decided to start producing our own Bridal Expo shows and are currently working on planning our 5th Annual show, so we are excited about that!
Through my connections in the TV world, our show was promoted several times on NBC 6 and Univision Channel 23- both local Miami news stations. What I believe that sets us apart from other wedding companies is that, although I did not graduate from Hospitality nor do I have a Wedding Planning certificate, I do, however, have plenty of experience in the hotel industry being that I worked for one and was the only Social Catering Manager. To later becoming a mom of two daughters to starting my own business shortly after and to say, I am going on 18+ years in the event industry and NOT giving up! We are truly a different kind of company- our Faith in GOD is what keeps us together and there is NO one event that my team and I don’t PRAY about before working that event. As I would call it- GOD is the real CEO of Pristine Events of South Florida and it’s not about having quantity, but, rather quality work and always striving for excellence that makes us so unique and different.
What were you like growing up?
Hmm, growing up! Well, I loved to have a mic in my hand (or as I would call it, the broom, I used that as a mic) and every time my uncle would visit us, he would bring his professional video camera and I was, well, like sort of the model/reporter whenever we would go out sightseeing and such! I loved everything about TV and being on TV, especially entertainment news.
Personality-wise, I was always laughing and smiling… I LOVE to talk and I love to meet all kinds of people and just make a difference whether big or small! I am definitely a social butterfly, public relations perhaps would have been my next calling and I know A LOT of people!!
My interests include reading, writing and spending some alone time (even though, that really doesn’t exist in my life, due to my career).
I have always enjoyed making others happy, it just makes me feel great and to see that smile on their face, makes me smile even more- and then there’s that left dimple of mine, that really stands out when I smile and laugh hard!
